I started with Bryce, and Vue is much better, too! ;)
they are both very similar, actually.
always try the demo of an app, see the PLE version for Vue :)

just about corporations buying up all the IP they can, to control everything
next up, another major politician suddenly wishes to make copyright eternal, and soon you will own, nothing. :/

Thread: Poser import issues/fixes etc :) | Forum: Vue
Paula
aye it requires work :)
Thefixer is probably very good/familiar with Poser/DAZ, which I am not :/ so such users may want/expect the great stuff they can do in those apps, to come through to Vue
But since I don't know how to do such in Poser/DAZ anyway (get the great figures/skin/highlights soem can), I can't help with such, sorry!
Dunno about you Paula but honestly enough for me figuring out Vue, AND also Rhino (for modelling) and Photoshop (for postwork/textures)
The addition of DAZ studio to the issue has really complicated things, sigh.
I got some of the genesis figures, because as fantasy artist, I need broad/unusual base of people/critters/clothing/morphs and being a thrifty Scot, I grab things on sale or "fastgrab" when possible! :P
Still not got round ot installing/using DAZ though! hope to do so now I have more time on my hands, so thanks very kindly for that tutorial! :)
I build up libraries of content over time, using sales etc,c an always downaload or use later, otherwise be a pain trying to get, say a specific set of armour, or critter.
Oh, asked on Poser forum, damn, I R Dumbass :P
Apparently the morph tool works on clothing...if I'd only realized that earlier, doh!
the unrealstic" tubular" look of most clothing's been pain for ages, using magnets is a pain and no use for fine work...so if can just paint in more creases etc that will really help :)

PC always gets along better with Vue than MAC, sorry but that's way it seems to be (and MAC's big issues with 64 bit etc didn't help)
hopefully MAC issues will be fixed as this is just pre-release :)

Thread: OT - Security Alert..... | Forum: Bryce
Your grandpa was lucky! :)
most of the Cameronians were tiny, coming from aorund Glasgow/Lanarkshire, the deprivation they suffered meant most were small due to severe malnurishment etc
Pic of the Gorbals slum in Glasgow
My dad's father served in Burma with the Cameronians and in the Chindits combined raiding force, eh absolutely loved the Ghurkas (whom they fought beside) :)
My maternal grandpa was a big guy not as big as yours though! he was a bouncer in the "dance hall days", he was huge by conparison at 6' 1" and 16 stone, versus most "Weegies" who were often only 5'3" and 10 stone dripping wet.

lol Ah so true about us Scots! ;)
Some of my folks were in the Cameronians (our local regiment before they all got shut down/sold off), the Kaiser himself, in World War 1 named the Cameronians the "Poison Dwarves" 'cause they were such mean little bastards :P

Thread: ah ha! found how to get area lights "invisible but working" again :P | Forum: Vue
My pleasure :)
oh if things are to scale and truly MASSIVE or extreme true ranges, they don't always work right
ie, sometimes if a Sun object or any object is too far, it simply may not work/appear.
I've noticed this problem is less encountered recently
I do space renders so have noted such issues, also with positioning planet/sobjects above/far away beyond atmosphere to get right look, such as moons or giant suns
I have noticed alas that when I make a SPHERICAL WORLD scene, models can end up "decimated" (reduced in polygon count) to pieces of ugly junk (mesh is reduced so far it's a mess) even though I never turned decimation on! :(
but that's no biggie, easy to fix, make another light object make sure it has NO lens flare, it's ot only affect the ring/planet you wish to light, move it closer to them or to centre of scene

Thread: Bump Map from poser to Vue 10 | Forum: Vue
did they fix the need for NEGATIVE numbers?
usual skin seting is -0.002 to -0.004
rougher objects like say a non-polished wood, perhaps -0.01
often takes tweaking
also, you need to adjust anisotropy settings in highlights, depending on skin and black skin needs much more careful tweaking of highlights to get right (as in such cases, highlights are more vital to achieve a good look than on pale skin)
:)
