Yes, I found it odd that this same message was posted with an image that I did all in XenoDream!? And, yes I do subscribe to the UF list and read when I am able--as where else is there to learn/find out any technical info concerning UF...especially about UF3!? Can't think of a single time I've tried to open/render a par file--just too many problems with my old machine/OS...and is why I decided to subscribe to hopefully find out what my problems were and if they were with me, or what. I also subscribe to several other artist/application lists, and don't participate on those lists either--again, I just read when and as I am able, etc. On any account, I wrote this person and politely asked if they weren't in error in making this post. I didn't ask them to remove the comment--just advised them of the above. I also didn't know that the same message had appeared on/with other messages. I see the message is gone this morning. I "spoke" with an Admin at Renderosity who stated that they were going through some "server upgrades" and that these and other "problems" were at their end and not "ours". ...was given no "get well" date, or what to otherwise do, etc... ...not only are thumbnails missing, but images as well ;-(

In Bryce (and other such apps like MojoWorld) just about all "procedural textures" are fractals...and the "program" that generates them is the DTE which is a fractal generator (or as has been described by other--a fractal synthesizer). The same goes for the Terrain Editor...in that all the terrains are "fractal based" and created via the same fractal generator... ..."fractals" (fractal algs) can be and are used for just about anything...communications, medicine, financial predictions, etc.... I've read where some say that simply put, fractals are just "patterns"..albeit, very special patterns. ...again, IMHO is just depends on how you choose to create/generate them; use and/or "display" them... ...that's my two cents... Nope...PBS ran a one hour special where Benoit talked about fractals and this was one of the many things he stated.

Benoit Manedlbrot suggested that fractals reflected the way that the human brain "worked".
