I often try out both... Sizing down sometimes looks really bad. Then I search for a good part of the image and work with it...

Thread: Tha case of the missing thumbnails? | Forum: Fractals
With the Edit feature I could restore my jpgs, I have found only three missing so far, they all came from the recent time (my newest page here)... Does anybody know whether older images are missing or not? I lost some image in Aug, 26 and 24, but not all from these two days...

Thread: When is it not a Fractal, but a texture? | Forum: Fractals
This will remain your own decision. I sometimes choose 2D for my images although I always start with UltraFractal (so far).

They don't become fractals... They aren't fractals. But they are created with a Fractal generator (UF in my case). But to call them just "texture"? There is an older thread where I asked where to post images when they are no fractals but made with a fractal generator... Opinion was that the galleries should represent the generator not the result :-) Greetings, Andreas

Thank you for showing them to us! They are really amazing, and I think, no Gnarl formula will be able to catch their mysterious atmosphere... And your collage is a nice work too.

If you believe that I am part of a "clique" as you call it - then you are right. And I really enjoy being a part of a nice group. But if you believe that I am constrained to that group then you are totally wrong. My group has found its members by similarity in tastes (among other reasons). I like to comment on images that appeal me, be they Xenodream, Ultrafractal, Bryce, or whatever was used to create them, with or without post-processing. This grouping "of a dozen or so individuals" in commenting each others images is IMO a matter of taste, not of forming a clique or of elitism. And it is more a matter of chance. I do not comment on all my clique members' images and vice versa. And please don't use such difficult words as "ostracizing" when you address me - the stupid non-native speaker that I am... I know that the world is a bad place, and the war of Ultrafractal against Fractint is one of the highlights in the history of evil.

I can't believe that only 2 people use KPT and only one uses Bryce... Or is KPT the same as KPT5? I just wanted to say in my first reply that "Most viewed" is as misleading as "Most commented" or "Best rated". But I myself look at galleries with "What's new" and "Most commented". And I gave my own opinion, no intentional misleading was meant. Perhaps you should not believe only in the bad sides of mankind. For example in the Poser gallery: "Most viewed" shows the biggest breasts, "Most commented" the IMO most interesting images overview. For me "Most viewed" is misleading.

I don't think you have understood my answer... Looking at "Most commented" images and seeing what fractal generator was used is a way to find out something about fractal programs.

If you look at the Fractal gallery here with a "Most" option, then it is also nice to choose "Most commented" or "Best rated" and to compare....

Thread: Are you "just" a fractal artist? | Forum: Fractals
Most of my "art" time goes into working with UF (cannot say fractals, cause I often make non-fractals). But a little bit of my time goes into pencil and paper.

OK, let's get more concrete... Have you ever been very angry or sad or under great emotional pressure and created a fractal to compensate/express this feeling?

Peter, don't let the view counter make your style... Some of my own images I really like have low counts...
If I like geometric images? Sometimes... Sometimes I like it how they underline a certain colour effect, sometimes it must be B&W to strengthen the geometric effect... And sometimes two nearly identical images are totally different in their effect on the viewer.
I think, since the R'city galleries get hundreds of images each day, all viewers are hungry for the NEW images. And stylistic repetitions in a short period of time lower the hit counts. But the cyber societies tend to forget really fast, so one is allowed to repeat oneself from time to time. Only the naked lady theme may be repeated until infinity :-)
Always creating the NEW is impossible (at least for me)... But I do not worry too much about it. Only a little bit...
