Some items have both PC and Mac files included. What are you using to unzip them? Most zip utilities will ignore them when unzipping, but if you drag them out manually rather than unzipping the whole thing you may get the extra files. They should delete, however, unless you're opening them within the archive rather than extracting them first.
Thread: Simple Make-Up Question | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Once you've gotten it how you want it, save it as .jpg, then you'll be able to apply it in D|S.

Here's what you need to do:
1 - I'm assuming you're using the default content location (DazStudioContent). If not, let me know so we can make sure the V4.2EZ installed with D|S isn't messing up your full V4.2
2 - Install V4.2 and the V4.2 Base Powerloader, if you haven't already.
3 - Install Morphs++. When it finishes it will ask if you want to Initialize -- click Yes and make sure it said it Initialized successfully.
4 - Install the Morphs++ Powerloader.
Now, when you double-click on V4.2 in the Content tab, the Powerloader will appear and let you check off which morphs you want to include. Make sure Base and Morphs++ are checked. Now V4.2 will load with morphs++ included.

Give it a try -- I haven't used winzip since version 7 or so, so I don't know if they've added .rar support since then.

Character morphs and textures are independent -- you can use the texture from one set, and the morphs from another (or your own morphs). Some characters ahve custom morphs that just require the base figure, others require morph packages like morphs++.

.rar files aren't the same as .zip files, they're compressed by a different algorithm. If the program you use to unzip (or if you use Windows native zIp support) doesn't support .rar, you can use the free program 7-zip

To elaborate:
D|S since version 2.1 has two ways of viewing content:
Category view lets you rearrange your content in whatever categories you want without changing the folder structure on the disk. However, to use it you have to do a Search for Content in order to populate the database. This puts everything it finds in the Unassigned category, from which you can move it around wherever you like.
Category view is the default, so you need click the triangle in the upper right corner of the content tab and either:

Thread: Runtime...is there a way... | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Which files do you wish to move, and where? Are you moving them within the same runtime or into a different runtime? It's safe to rearrange most of the files in the following subfolders of libraries: character, camera, face, hair, hand, light, pose, props -- Poser requires each filetype to be under its designated subfolder; D|S doesn't care as long as it's in one of those subfolders. Don't move anything in other folders. As for D|S-format files outside the Runtime folder, they can be moved around wherever you like with a few exceptions, such as Data.

If you're planning to do postwork, render to a .png and when the postwork is done, convert to .jpg. Jpg's are small, but the compression process is 'lossy', so every time you resave it you lose some detail. If you can work with the larger files until the end, you'll only be saving as jpg once.

To create categories, right-click where you want it and choose "create category". You can drag individual items or entire folders into the category you want, or you can right-click on an item (or a bunch of items that are all selected), choose categorize, and get a cascading menu with checkboxes.
