Thread: Fantasy great room modelinf finished now to texture | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Wow. Seriously... that's a damned nice set-up. I've discovered it myself, though; building the critters are the easy part... it's that damnable texturing that makes life hard on you ;) As for textures, what I did was to find a nice floor texture, then use the resulting render as a guide of sorts for the rest of it. In either case, your best bet is to go with an overall color-scheme, and let that be your guide. Regd's, /P

Thank you a million, but one thing gets in my way: Do I really have to register with MSN to download? /P

Crescent: Mail sent... I look forward to hearing from you. Everyone else - thx guys! I've been doing this sort of thing for (literally) years in the first-person shooter world, and I've recently been tasked with teaching 3D multimedia at the school, so this is more for fun than anything else. Also, since it is released under the GPL, I've included the entire thing in .dxf (AutoCAD) format as part of the .zip; it'll take a heap of work to mess with it (it would prolly be easier to use all the .obj files included instead), but for those with 3DS Max or Bryce, I figure that a single monolithic .dxf file of the whole set would be easier to work with. (I had to use .dxf because AC3D has a limited export list; .obj and .3ds weren't in that list.) In either case, I'll be home tomorrow all day (Thx to Mr. King), so I'll get started on the roof then. Regd's, /P

This one is good for the still-image types (like me, because I suck at animation:) "Stellarium is a free software available for Windows 95/98/2000 and Linux. It renders 3D photo-realistic skies in real time. With stellarium, you really see what you can see with your eyes, binoculars or a small telescope." /PThread: IS SHE WORTH IT???? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thread: Daz's Free Mystery Model? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
IIRC, DAZ' offices are located in Draper, Utah... that's almost literally right down the road from where I live (I'm in Layton). I could always get some rope, a ladder, a crowbar and... hehehe /P PS: I'm KIDDING! I don't even own a crowbar!

That's the one! I've been going nuts trying to search through all the README's to see where the #$@!$% thing came from (heh. :) The shirt is an excellent prop, too - conforms to damned near everything, with only a little distortion on some models. (now... if someone wants to build a program, one providing a way to search through README files, that would be uber-nice.)

Instead of using the standard WINE releases from winehq, try WineX from Transgaming (link above) - it's more friendly to DirectX and runs all kinds of progs that the regular WINE won't run. I tested it by installing and running Half-Life Counterstrike, Quicktime Player, and lots of other goodies. One word of caution, though... sometimes I get interface parts that disappear until my mouse passes over 'em (morph dials, camera controls, etc.) - otherwise it works rather well :) /PThread: Using Painter for Texturing (Shania Suit) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

It's a program I'm use to in Linux, and it has a Windows version.... both are 100% free (link attached.) GIMP ("Gnu Image Manipulation Program") uses photoshop plugins well enough, and works (IMHO) better than P-shop in lots of instances. /PThread: Hot damn! (heh.) Got textures going (thx guys!) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Umm, heh - not yet. I'm still playing with it - the texture maps are sitting at 2048x2048 (my screen resolution is set @ 1600x1200 and 115pixels/inch on my LCD screen.) I'll probably have to grow the texmap a bit anyway, given the latent blur I keep seeing in the checkerboard texture. Other textures have worked out great thus far, though. /P
