Thread: New Image and a Question | Forum: Bryce
What a great image tjohn, reminds me of the Terminator when he walks out of the gas truck blast except his was a metallic frame instead of bone. Yeah, I think most people go through phases which tend to evolve around their moods. Like Pablo Picassos blue period.; Picasso found blue particularly appropriate for his subject matter because it is a color associated with melancholy. Encarta
Thread: Perhaps a Tribute Challenge is in order...in memory of "All" our fallen Heroes | Forum: Bryce
Sounds like a good suggestion but I believe that the winner of the monthly challenge wins the rights to offer the following months challenge. But there's nothing to keep you from displaying your own tribute if you cared to do so. Just my thoughts.

Are you kidding me Mboncher? I've just visited your gallery and you have some excellent work there. And yes, you've developed a style of your own. So in light of all this, it seems that maybe you're going through a little dry spell. We all go through that every once in a while. You know, it seems that as we get older we become a little more cynical with the world around us. We lose that childlike quality of our youth to be mystified into wonderment by everything around us. We become overwhelmed by the routines in our daily lives to the point that we forget that there is beauty all around us. If only we took the time to see it. Sometimes what we need to do is stop, take a deep breath and try to see things around us from a different and fresh perspective. Kind of to give us that little jump start we sometimes need to get us out of that rut. To do that, I sometimes start to look for inspiration from different sources. I go to photography sites and art sites even TV commercials and movies looking to draw inspiration from the works of others. When an image captures your attention, study it to see if you can figure out what it is about that particular piece of work that draws you to it. And when you've figured that out, set yourself down in front of your "canvas" and try to see if you can manifest that same allure that attracted your attention in that other artist's work. Don't be afraid to change in midstream. If you happen to run across another piece of work that draws your attention more than the first, give that one shot and see what happens. We learn from each other and we are inspired by others and the world around us.

Thread: Which render option for photo prints 20 x 30 cm | Forum: Bryce
It is usually recommended that that your images get printed at anywhere between 150-300 dpi resolution depending on whom you talk to. Of course the higher the resolution the bigger your file is going to be. Being American and not being all that familier with the metric system, I referred to Photoshop and pluged your numbers in cm and gave it a resolution 150 dpi and it shows that for best quality at that dpi your image should be 1181x1773 (pixels) at 150 dpi. Going midway with the resolution to 250 dpi it shows 1969x2955. Taking it all the way to 300 dpi we get 2362x3545 to output at 100% 1:1 for 20x30cm (7.873x11.817 inches).

Yes, very sad indeed. I woke up to the terrible news. My heart goes out to the families and friends of the victims and the space community. Peace be on all.

Ornlu, pick them up at the above link. You didn't send the "jpg" map files for it but the models do have mapping so you'll have to re-apply the respective maps.Thread: Monthly Challenge Suggestion | Forum: Bryce
Ohhhhh but of course! I see your point now and agree. it would be nice to see what the rules were and what the challenge was at the time of posting to better understand the image entries. Surely!
Thread: Render Times | Forum: Bryce
Yes, I agree with AS, if you ever get the time to conducting some experimentation on your system, render the same scene at the same resolution, setting one render at normal render, another at super render and the last at premium, then compare your images and see if you can live with the lesser quality and how much of a real difference did it make. I mean, is the difference so obvious that one must go onto the higher rendering settings? Also consider that if your images are for web viewing only purposes, you will need to reduce your images even further to comply with web site size restrictions. I've had occasions where my normal render quality looked better than the premium render if you can believe that.
Thread: WIP 2nd Edition - The Docks | Forum: Bryce
This is looking really good MadDog. Its really taken shape. Adding human figures into a scene is always tricky business. If the figure looks too much like a mannequin and its supposed to be a live human, the whole image tends to suffer in the credibility area. The human brain is very keen in differentiating the human form. Thats why its always safer when using them, if theyre not very lifelike, to kind of hide their faces or put them in the shadows or in darkness and often, out in the distance where making out their features is very difficult. Of course, if you have access to high quality human models and textures, the skies the limit. This fellow here is really pretty good and does add to the scene. The only problem I have, and it could just be me, is that his hands seem a little un-natural to me. Maybe he should be holding something in it, perhaps even the dogs leash or somethinga fishing pole, a basket, rope, his shoes, something. Other than that, its great!

Perhaps I'm missing something here or I just don't understand the question...but the monthly challenge is posted at the top of every page under the Bryce forum logo above, together with the rules where it says "Here". Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding your post.
