Thread: Thoughts on "The Dress"... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It seems like a sound financial choice on DAZs behalf. Firstly, there are a huge number of low power machines out there, only capable of running Poser 4, if they want to maximise their sales then it makes better sense to support P4. Secondly, the original choice not to support P5 goes back to some copywright ambiguities regarding material created for P5. Somehow there was a concern that Curious Labs could potentially claim some rights to it! Thirdly, as has already been mentioned, DAZ is setting itself up in competition with Curious Labs with regard to both Poser 5 and the forthcoming Poser 6. They're not going to be too keen on making those programs more attractive than their own by giving them all best content! It has been mentioned that Poser 4 users would not really be missing out on The Dress, as their machines would not be able to handle something with that many morphs. Well, I've a PII 350mhz with 128RAM and I manage 3rd Generation figures just fine, thanks to morph injection. I manage the morph heavy clothes better by creating morph injections and light cr2s for them using Injection Magic - which I've discovered is quite easy! I'm now stripping V2 down for morph injection also.

I'm not technically minded. Logic, I can cope with - computer code, I can't! The upshot of which is that I look for programs. You might try looking at P-Wizard in the MP, it has a geometry stripper that will take care of pp2's and cr2's with no hastle. It means finding $20 though.
Thread: The price of custom models | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It could be expensive. I'm guessing most artists are going to price custom work according to how much they could be earning from creating a model for general sale. There will probably be all of variation but the best thing you can do is contact a selection of individual artists here. Have a look through the market, see whos work you like and IM them. No one will mind taking queries.

Was wondering where you had been. Wondering no more. They look great, as always, I'm going to have to go and count my pennies!

According to the instructions it should support anything. DAZ has the program at $30 - although I'm sure I didn't pay that much, it must have been on sale. Truth is, its been sitting on my hard drive for months without being tried. I am a bit short on time at the moment, having a lot of writing to do, but I'll have a go at it sometime over the next few weeks and shall let you know how I fare. If possible, I'll try to work with the Freedom Skirt so you'll know if its what you need.

Great news for my little system! Just a note though, you mention the Injection Builder but it is Dark Whisper's Injection Magic you would need, the former is specific to Generation 3 figures, the latter will let you create morphs with injections for anything (I think). As for future products - just keep it up, contemporary and stylish is what I'm looking for. You can have too much fantasy and goth!

Wow. Looking good. I just bought the skirt - that is a lot of morphs for my little computer, I may have to strip some and make them injectable! With this many morphs, perhaps injectables would be the way to go, it is the virtue of V3 and her family that they don't take up more resources than they need. I discovered Injection Magic at DAZ a little while ago - it is a powerful tool for this purpose. Anyway, well done with the skirt and I shall look forward to the top. It really does look like Wusamah will have to look out - style with morphs and at a price we can afford! I'm sure that I've mentioned this before, but it is excellent presentation - it is something I look for, style in presentation is, here at least, a sign of style in production. Keep up the good work.

Stunning - and such great presentation! I only have a baby computer (128mb) but I'll give these a go. I guess I shall have to reduce the textures a bit - but that worked for the other sets. Anyone reading who hasn't tried the two other sports sets, find in the MP, they are worth every penny paid! Its pay day!

DAZ seems to get a lot of stick over PC - I don't really understand why. You do get a lot for your dollar and there is more variety than some give credit for. Now that the $5 voucher can be used on brokered goods you need buy very little to more than make that month's renewal pay for itself. Look out for some of the locations available in PC, the classical ones are particularly versatile, lending to contemporary, historical, fantasy, horror, or Sci-Fi themed work.

I hope the absence of "what's new" is a glitch to be fixed - I do most of my shopping from this option!

I just can't afford to invest in a new model just now. But if my situation changes, I probably will. From the pictures I've seen, she looks pretty good, perhaps a bit more sassy than the DAZ models. What does impress me is the inclusion of both a hi-res version and a lo-res one with a parentable hi-res head. That is very good strategy and DAZ should pay attention when it comes around to a fourth generation of Millennium People.
