It took me almost three hours to make a DTE..<< I feel for ya. The DTE has a zillion different settings. I tested my ABC set up on a poser figure and it worked fine. I noticed that Bryce has an "export" button for it's textures, so I should be able to export the C channel texture. You're welcome to it if you want.

Lots of fun stuff on this site. The exact same question was asked too.Thread: Updated WIP for my waterfall image | Forum: Bryce
That terrain work is down right gorgeous. The waterfall is very realistic. This had to take a lot of time. My only two nitpicks would be the froth along the far bank of the middle layered water plane. It looks a bit to frothy to me. Maybe less white to calm it down a tad? Also the middle tree is almost dead center of the picture. To me it takes away from the flow of the scene. This image rocks!
Thread: I'm considering a 24" Sony Monitor CRT. Any advice, warnings, etc? | Forum: Bryce
I remember reading within the last couple of weeks that CRT monitors were being discontinued due to safety reasons. For the life of me I can't remember where the post was. They said within a year or so they would no longer be manufactured and the LCD monitors would be the mainstream. Of course I don't know if the statement is true or not, especially since I can't remember where I read it.

Hmmm. Almost looks like you've got something in your "layer styles" set... Maybe you have an "Outer Glow"? Doubleclick on your layer thumbnail and see if you have anything set.

Second, I would suggest a different cropping. Would you believe that some artist consider "timing" in their work? When I say timing, it's just another way of saying what elements in your scene get the most attention. As an example, at it's extreme, some artists use DOF (depth of field) to draw practically all the viewer's time to a single element in their scene. How much time do you ever take to view the blurry background in a portrait that used DOF? Usually not much. So now to my point... To me, The rug has no real significance, although it does provide a bit of balance. When I see view your scene, my eyes are naturally drawn to the oval shape the rug pattern creates, yet I don't really see the reward.
The reward, from my perspective (as the viewer), is all the wonderful detail above the rug! That's where I want to spend my time. I've included an example cropping that still lets the rug provide balance, and some framing.
Hope you don't mind my suggetions. And that's all they are, suggestions.. neither right nor wrong. Just food for thought! Btw, your image reminds me a lot of Vermeer's style. Thanks for posting.

Very imaginative work. I'm in love with those clouds. Excellent work. I'm not sure I like the domed structure in the very middle. Seems to be out of place, or blocking the view in some way? Maybe a different structure, but not as tall. I'd agree with the texture comments as well. The link I've included points to one of sbleci's best texture works. There are many ways to break up textures, so they aren't so repetitive... giving a scene much more character. Casting shadows onto textures, varying bump scales, dark and light contrast from such things as shadows or even color (water stains for example) really help give your image uniqueness. Notice how sbleci uses the same basic texture for all the dwellings... however, by his use of light, bump, vegetaion, and atmospheric effects, one could never call the textures repetitive. Other than that, you've done an outstanding job. I'd love to see your technique on drawing those clouds too! PS. I know I just about broke every grammar rule known to man, but I tend to type free form lol.Thread: The Next Bryce Coordinator is...................... | Forum: Bryce

I deleted that silly picture Robert. It was just a joke, nothing to get all bent out of shape over. Besides, the world is a bozo-bin.

Out of curiosity, were all the insulting IM's and harsh comments before or after you went on your little rant and called them "idiots", "retarded", and their work "garbage"? Funny how one doesn't seem to need the "ignore" or "delete comments" feature you mention, until that someone steps out of line. PS. Usually the "unable to vote" scenario, is when they open up the picture from the Hot20 page (where the vote button is disabled), as opposed to opening it up from the gallery. Maybe that's what was happening.

Shadowdragon... thanks for promoting my gallery ;). It was only meant as a little humor. >>>Or should we say, LFNFuzzy? You gallery is every bit as impressive as hers is, that's for sure.<<< And as for your conclusion that I'm some how associated with LFNForever, is a bit off. I don't know her at all. I used to frequent these forums under the MuddyGrub nick. But quite frankly, I became embarrased at some of the antics that go on here about the hot20, the proreneder thing, the lack of positiveness, on and on. Of course there are great people here with good attitudes. But if there is one thing I dont like is whiners. We should be greatful for every second that we have to do art, since there are people in the world that literally CAN'T creat art. I still drive by the forum now and then, to see if things have changed... Not much.

drawbridgep wrote: As for cloning, we all know that still goes on. Nothing you can do about it.<<< I remember that time you went to another site (i forgot the name of it) to post a work for critique. You posted a second work under a clone nick, and got busted right away. I guess they had anti clone measures in place. lol That was classic.

agreeing with Striving, and others. It's been an ongoing topic around here.<< When someone states his/her concerns in front of the lawmakers at a town meeting, he/she is a community leader. If that same person stands on a street corner and lectures, mostly likely they get labled a lunatic. My whole problem is the "on going" bitching about the hot20 here in the forum does no good. The only thing that comes of it is hurting artists feelings when they have not done anything wrong. If you don't like the rating system, send the complaints to the site people. They run the place and set the rating systems.
