Quote - Change raytracing bounces to 1, or switch off reflection altogether.
Stonemason props have an awful lot of surfaces to render, and with multiple bounced reflections I'm not surprised it takes a long time.
Â
Thanks Snarlygribbly, its has been my longest render what I've done in Poser Pro,if I'm not counting LuxRender render timesÂ
Agree Stonemason props have lots of surfaces and I will try yours settings and post the my findings and thanks for reply, realy appreciated for yours reply

Thread: Indoor lighting with IDL and camera settings | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Nice render, Jura. You shouldn't need to mess with colour if you are lighting with HDR, as the colours are taken from the image. I haven't been using HDR, just a jpg on a skydome and using Poser infinites, and they seem to look better if you sample either the skydome jpg (blue) or the floor/walls material.
Just to restate/clarify my original reason for posting, it was the discovery/realisation that Poser/Firefly behaves similary to film. To put that another way, to achieve what might be considered a linear progression in tone requires an exponential progression in both light and ambient. BB stated that he used 'aggresive' settings, but my realisation is that they are not aggressive, but appropriate.
Â
Hi there
Â
I'm not touching the colour only value and yes I've used too JPG,really depends on the scene
Not sure I've tried to touch the Ambient value, but this doesn't make any difference if deflaut colour is set to black,if you will change this to blue or white yes will make differenceÂ
Agressive render setting,as above I'm usign only 6 IDL bounces,6000 samples as max,but usually 1200 Â samples is enough for fully lighted scene with IDL bounces 2-4
But I can see,you are using GC(Gamma Correction),in my case I'm not using too much GC,I prefer render with GC off,but thanks for examples and help guys,at least I'm not alone with those splotchess issuesÂ
Â
Thanks,Jura

Quote - > Quote - You are adjusting Ambient value or on the HSV ?
HSV and plugged into Alternate_Diffuse, but what difference would that make? If plugged into Ambient_Color and Ambient_Value used to adjust brightness, the math is the same.
I use the HSV because it is handy for saturation adjustments as well. But if I'm not touching Saturation then it makes no difference.
Â
OK got it and thanks for replyÂ
Â
Here is latest render,I've used only HDR and yours EnvSphere,no lights at all,HSV set at 8.0(although I didn't touched colour etc ),rendered with GC on via D3D Firefly, bounces 6,6000 samplesÂ

Thanks,Jura

Quote - Here was the first render, with what I thought were very aggressive render settings. I used the D3D Render Firefly dialog where I can control things directly. I had IDL bounces=6, samples at 6000, Irradiance Cache set to 90.
The env sphere HDR value was set to 16. (I'm not in a fish bowl - with the relatively small angular cross section of these windows, I needed four stops.)
After two hours I got the usual ridiculous light leaks and splotchies. But, at least the lighting looks about right.
Â
Hi BB
Â
I've question where are you adjusting/setting HDR Value ?
Â
You are adjusting Ambient value or on the HSV ?

Quote - Miss Nancy never said AO. Occlusion is the word to describe objects blocking ambient light. We have to use that word even when we're not talking about the Poser feature that implements it called Ambient Occlusion (AO).
Occlusion is something that happens with IDL, too, and if it is missing then IDL looks wrong. You added so much shadowless fill light that your image doesn't look realistic anymore. It's missing the right amount of occlusion.
Miss Nancy makes a suggestion to improve your render appearance, and it has nothing to do with AO.
Adding too much fill light kills the ambience. I understand why you're doing it - to stop the splotchies. But it's too much.
Â
Hi BB
Â
Sorry I've misunderstood Miss Nancy wording, agree I've added too much of shadowless light
In those two last renders I've deleted all lights and I've used only Infinite light acted as sun with shadows with intensity set at 42%,one extra Infinite with 40% acted as like fill light ?
Thanks,Jura

Quote - jura, if you delete all IBL and limit to IDL / fill lite, I daresay shadow occlusion shall improve. Â PP2014 and later.
Â
Hi there
Â
I'm not usig AO or I don't have enabled AO on any lights,I'm using IBL only due with IBL light not why,but lights are bit brighter,on IBL light is not attached any image(HDR or EXR,JPG),only colour is bit blue
Â
Thanks,Jura
Thread: Indoor lighting with IDL and camera settings | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi there
Â
As above I would add at least one point light above the ceiling or I would use Infinite light, rendering enclosed space as is interior is bit pain with Poser, you still can get splotchess
Â
Here are my renders which I've rendered with Poser Pro 2014 and IDL,,in this renders I've used above D3D Firefly settings and light setup consist from 2 infinite lights(One acting as sun with 42% and one without the shadows set at 40%),1 IBL(Light have set intensity at 30%) and 4 ceiling lights(Point light set as inverse and intensity 5%),Gamma Correction OFF and Sphere from Bagginsbill and HDR picture from HDRlab and TrueForm Contemporary Bedroom
Thanks,Jura

Quote - Just thought I would mention it as mine does that and use Shaderworks Library Manager 2 but then my harddrives are set to spin down after around 10 minutes. Not seen any change since upgrading to the Game Dev version.Â
Â
I don't think this is spin up/down issue, have set in Power Option-> Hard Disk-> Turn off hard disk after to never and have same issueÂ
I still think this is down to the Adobe Air

Thread: A Question on Poser Fusion with Lighting and 3DS Max | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi there
I've used 3DS MAX and really I've not tried to add or import scene with the lights as 3DS MAX lighting is bit easier to so,but deffo I would like to try
Are you will be rendering with V-RAY or with Mental Ray?

Thanks,Jura

Quote - Hello;
Â
I am currently using Luxions KeyShot 5 pro...i know that its possible to import poser obj files into KeyShot...and alot of other file formats...and it all works fine.
Â
The only thing is that when i import Victoria 4 into KeyShot...i import her as an obj file...and she will be without her textures...just the base mesh. Â And i know that its possible to render characters with skin textures in KeyShot...becuase i have seen many examples on the web. Â Only i dont know if its possible to export Victoria out of poser with her textures...is there a way to do this?...or must the textures be applied separately in KeyShot after importing her?...Â
Â
Bottom line...to be able to import Victoria into KeyShot with textures applied...is this even possible?...if yes...how?...
Â
help is appreciated.
Â
Â
Thx.

Â
Hi there
Â
I've used on our work PC Keyshot 4.3,bellow is render which I've done, its quick render, took only 6.5sec to do so
Â
Â
You need edit/apply material/textures,just click with mouse on the Victoria and click on the Edit Material, then navigate to the Textures and you need add yours desired textures to all slots(slots are like 1_Lip,1_Nostril etc),I would recommend to lower Refraction Index at 1.06-1.08,at 1.5 skin is very glossy and reflective and doesn't look real

Thanks,Jura

Hi thereÂ
Please check under head, what size is there, there needs to be 0.000,I would assume there will be 1.000,if yes then change to 0.000,happens to me on one morph,I just don't remember which one has beenÂ

Quote - vilters- Why does the bucket size have to be a power of 2? Why is 32 the best?
jura11- Just so we're talking about the same thing, by "GC", do you mean "Gamma Correction" or something else? How would gamma correction affect the smearing in an image?
Also, I'm not using any lights in my scene- all of the illumination is coming from the Ambient Value of the "Lights" materials. And just to confuse everyone, let's throw in another condition: I need the image to render within a 1/2 hour or less.
The reason is this: if I'm going to use this technique or render settings for promotional sales images, I can't be spending 2-3 hours waiting for one image to render. If I have to make 9 or 10 images, then that's 20 to 30 hours just making images!
Â
Hi VP
Â
Yes we are talikng about the same thing Gamma correction,as I've said,I've tested several settings with GC on and GC offÂ
There can be the yours problems if you are not using any light in yours scene and trying to render with only emmiters(Ambient Color and Ambient Value set at 7),i would use lights and lower ambient value, this can be good start
You are want to render with 1/2 hour or less,my god wish I could render my scenes in such speed,my renders takes around 20-45mins(longest render took me around 4hours) depends how densily is populated or how many props etc is there, but usual time is around 20mins
Agree if you are doing this for promotional purposes then lower render times are best way
Â
Thanks,Jura

Quote - Hmm... there seems to be conflicting information.
Miss Nancy says to not use Irradiance Cache, but the discussion in the other thread says to use a value between 80 and 90.
And DreamlandModels says to turn off IDL completely. I'm not sure how this tells Poser to use indirect lighting to light an interior scene.
3D-Mobster- don't take this the wrong way, but your box has way too many polygons. If that's supposed to be a basic 6-sided cube, why are there so many poly around the corner area? This is probably why Poser is getting confused about how to render those polys.
I think your solution may be to optimize the model before bringing it into Poser. For example, do you really need all those polygons along the corner? Could they be combined into 1 polygon per side? See the image for what I mean.
jura11- I've always used a bucket size of 92 since I've thought a bigger bucket size results in a faster render. Maybe the opposite is true and I should be using a smaller bucket size for a faster render.
I have't tried using GC, though I'll have to see what that does.
Â
Hi there
Â
I've tried with 80-90 but render has been very slow and results has been bit conflicting for me.
I always using 32 bucket size, its not if will be faster, but with higher bucket size not sure if does render faster, but for sure will take more RAM like with 32,that's my view on this,I've not used higher bucket size unles I'm rendering with 3DS MAX where I'm using 64 usually, but in most cases 32 is enough
With GC you shouldn't need too many lights and without the GC(or GC off) its possible to create nice render without the splotches etc,but you will need to tweak in material room diffuse and ambient settings and here is my thread on same question over on RDNAÂ http://forum.runtimedna.com/showthread.php?88632-Dark-splotches-with-IDL
Did you tried to turn off emitters there on parts which are most affected? Sometimes this can help, but i would try to at least have look at material room and tweak there materials, plus this depends on the lights too
As I've used mostly only 3 light setup(IBL,Infinite acted as sun and Infinite just for shadows),but now I'm using several  point lights with turned to Inverse and lights are positioned above ceiling not far from ceiling but not too close and I've added too IBL with one Infinite light, this has worked for me in several scenesÂ
Â
Thanks,Jura

Hi there
Â
I would reduce Bucket size to 32,this should be enough and should result in faster render too,96 bit high for me,but maybe you have good reason to use 96..
Pixel samples I don't think they can cause those smearing or those leaks,I usually render with 3-5(12 I'm using when I'm rendering with DOF),Raytrace bounces 4 is too bit high,3 should be enough,Irradiance cache is very similar to my setting, intensity is OK too,but if you are using GC then i would probably would lower this and Bounces too,I've tried various settings with 2-6 and for me best one has been 2 and about the using AO with IDL,I've tried to use,but after few tests I'm not using AO with IDL
Â
Second thing I would try tweak materials,I know from personal experience,on some props or interiors I've got several leaks, which I've sorted with tweaking the diffuse(usually vendors set this to 1.0,but I've changed this to 0.88-0.92 and everything has rendered like should )
Â
Did you render this with GC or without the GC?
Â
Thanks,Jura
