You should get an email and the order will be added to your account on the e-on website. At least thats what happened with 7.5 and the 8 pre-release.
I have not gotten the email for the 8 final release yet, but I would guess that it will come tonight.

Thread: Vue 8 pre-release available for maintenance customers | Forum: Vue
OK, just for you I have tried out the eco-system population. I am not sure if this is considered a bug or a feature by e-on. For me this was never an issue as I always work my way up from the base layer and then populate, but I can see that this is annoying if you use a different path.
If I understand correctly, the problem is that the instances in the layer vanish, not the complete layer. Correct? If that is the case then nothing has changed in that respect, adding an ecosystem to the second layer still eliminates the instances in the first layer eco. Sorry.
I had a few minutes to try out the new reposing and it is very nice so far. Fast and responsive. I have imported a character from DAZ studio via Collada and it comes in with bones and all. You can select the bones and pose. It is very quick and fluent. No comparison to the old poser coupled way. Drawback seems to be that it doesn't know about conforming clothing, but it is quite easy to pose the clothing to follow the figure. As this is primarily for re-posing and smaller adjustments it is really quite nice.
I also gave the new terrain editor a quick spin. Lots of new stuff to learn but very nice. Overhangs, arches and holes and caves should be easy now.
Above is a quick render with a sculpted terrain and a V4 figure that was imported via Collada from DAZ Studio and completely "posed" in Vue8 in about30 seconds.

Thread: SkinVue and DAZ Elite textures | Forum: Vue
The Elite textures work fine in Vue and can easily be combined with SkinVue. They are simply very high quality, very high resolution textures. The Poser or DAZ Studio specific material settings won't get imported into Vue anyway (unless you use "use Poser Materials"). Using SkinVue on these textures produces very nice results. Their large size can put a lot of strain on a 32bit system, but they work well under 64bit.
Above is a quick example with Marie. Exported from DS3 as OBJ and then run through SkinVue in Vue Infinite 7.5.

Select the camera and switch off "Always keep level". That is the top icon/button on the left in the camera properties.

Thread: Latest 7.5 Infinite build problem with plants? | Forum: Vue
Hello Mazak!
All three load without problem here (Vue 7.5 built 43360). I have not encountered any problems with any of the plants I have used so far. This is on PCs with 32bit XP SP3 and 64bit VISTA business.

Thread: Reasonable dimensions for animations | Forum: Vue
Hello!
I usually use 640*480 as the maximum size for youtube animations. Anything larger costs a lot of rendering time. I am just playing around, so super high quality is not my goal. There is also some loss of detail due to youtubes compression. How much depends to some degree on the video compression you use. Here is an example i did when playing with the new procedural planets:
This was rendered in VUE 7.5 infinite at 640*480 with 24 frames per second in "broadcast" quality. Took almost four days on my 64bit dual Xeon workstation....

Thread: Need someone with Vue 7.5 xStream to try some controls for me | Forum: Vue
Hello!
I have infinite, not xstream, but just in case: Did you try to zoom out very far? The effect can be quite subtle depending on the size settings. If it workedย and you move the camera for example 100km up, you should see the horizon curve and the side view should also show a curve in the terrain.
By the way: You do need to use an infinite terrain or ground plane for this.
You could also activate the "Planet terrain" setting. In this case the terrain will form a complete sphere.
Sorry if you already knew this, but it confused me initially.

Thread: Quadspinner: Very impressive work with Vue | Forum: Vue
Hello!
I bought the procedural terrain tutorial a couple of days ago. It comes as one ~350Mb high quality video (.wmv, the is also a mac version) in 1280*800. Length is about 75 minutes. Very well done in pretty much the same style as the free video. There is a lot of good info in the video and I learned much about the terrain tutorial and mixing fractals that is not really covered in the manual or in either of the two recent books (I have both). I don't regret buying it and will probably go through it a few more times.

Thread: Bark Generator ? | Forum: Vue
Hello!
It is a metanode you can use to generate tree bark patterns. Try it with cylinder. In the function editor use "add metanode", connect it to color and bump, adjust the parameters to suit and voila: a a great procedural tree bark.

Hi Gill,
Try to uncheck "limit OpenGL polygons" in the Display options tab in the option menu. That solved that particular problem in my case.

Hi,
It looks like that hair uses the Carrara dynamic hair and thus will NOT work in Poser.
