I love flower photos too..just did a whole series in a fernery not far from where I live, waiting for money to have them developed.. Great shot, Gwyn T, as always closeups of flowers make me think of fairytales and pixies and all kinds of imaginary creatures... ~M~
Thread: And here is a question | Forum: Photography
Hmm actually I was wondering about the same thing.. I know if my dad was a bit more computer literate he'd be all over renderosity, but as he is still struggling to check his email, and doesn't understand that pressing F11 doesn't mean pressing F and then 11, I need to do virtually everything for him. So I guess it'd be ok if I post some of his work, as long as I let everyone know it's not my own? Some of his photos are just magic... he's been doing photography for over 30 years now so he's got quite a collection! ~M~

Exactly Syyd...... First time I uploaded here, the only comments I got were 'Great work, excellent job, keep them coming' etc. Now how is that supposed to help me? I know I'm not THAT good! As for whip me, beat me, chain me..seen the pic of me and hollowmen in the Members gallery? ~M~
Thread: TUTORIAL... Manipulating Portraits With your Graphics Program... | Forum: Photography
I wish I had the chance to manipulate/digitally enhance my photos. Unfortunately, the only place I can get my photos scanned now is at school and our scanner there is somewhat dodgy..it lets light in while scanning and I always end up with white stripes across my photos.. We also don't have any picture editing programs apart from Microsoft Photo Editor...so my pictures are always kinda 'raw'... sigh Any ideas what I can do about that? I'd love to learn this stuff...and improve my photos before they go on the web..

Hmm I use a 200 (400 with converter) mm lense on a bellow (oldfashioned, maybe, works, yes!) for closeups like these...needs quite a bit of light when I do it like that though, almost impossible without a tripod. Sometimes I also use a standard 55mm lense on a bellow, then I can go ultra-close, like 1cm or less. Wish I had a digital camera...the one I've got now is too much work! :-)

To me it looks like a huge cave...waiting impatiently for a dragon to pop its head out...

This is really cool. I love how macro photography makes you look at things completely different. This looks like something out of Babylon5 or something.

Hey Syyd and Mike. Mike - the photo didn't show after I uploaded but it does now.. Must have been my browser! Syyd - Yes they were taken for Christmas, during something called the Festival of Lights in a park in New Plymouth, New Zealand. I took them over a 5 minute exposure, the light trails you see on the water are from people rowing boats with torches on them. I wasn't expecting the result to be anywhere near this good, but I guess I was lucky. I've had a few lucky shots since I started out...most of the time I've had absolutely no idea what I was doing, but now I think I'm more in control. I love just playing around with the camera, experimenting to see what happens, that's how I learn. I've tried to read photography books and all kinds of things, but I have to see results to actually learn something...too bad developing is so expensive!! Wish I had a digital camera but the old Pentax Spotmatic 2 I'm using now will have to do. It's a very reliable camera...and I wish it was mine! :-)) Anyways, thanks for your compliments. I'll go check out the rest of the forum now! ~M~
