I have kept Poser 3 and 4 Posette and Dork on from when Poser 3 was the latest version and they are still very useful. Adequately realistic, and not too high poly, so I can get plenty of them in a scene.

í‘ve never considered P3 and P4 people as realistic. It indeed has been the best, that was availeble for Poser until the first Victoria release.

First and important: I can't stand watching video tutorials. They are aweful for different reasons. Don't want to mention them all. NOT this guy. Finally good. I do like his videos. Very good.

I was never able to do anything in Blender. That "Sheldon Cooper" UI just used to drive me crazy and didn't seem to make sense. But now, yup now with 2.80b I still might never become a Blender expert, but at least I could do something with it. Needs time and I do like it. Something to explore now.

I really don't like their web site. clicking links lead you back to other links. You want to know more, but the link sends you back where you've come from. this is all big bling, bling and you don't get any real informations at all. Sorry Vue, you're dead.Bummer.

Open source just means the source code is available. It doesn't have anything to do with licensing for the use of the code. Blender has a GPL License. Unity has a proprietary license. Blender can't go to a subscription model ever with the license it has.

LOL, Don't tell Poser being they sell us both Open source Blender and Open source Pixar.Think theres something about a Flash also.

Heres to hoping they sell us eevee to ;)

No, they sell us Physics, GoZ and a not full working cycles render engine. ?

I am a Poser user, a DS user and an IClone user. Yeah ;-P Anyway, I use every Forum, Id like to.

SM did a great job, when they took over Poser first. They've improved the morph brush and introduced the dependency editor. Two things, maybe the only two things ;-) , I miss painfully in DAZ Studio.

What Has stopped them from "going Blender" up to this point??

Several times I tried to do something with blender without a chance. I couldn't even do the most basic things with it. So I hope from V.2.80 on, Blender will finally be easier to learn. BTW: I once had the chance to play with Maya, that is told to have a step learning curve too, I could even model some kind of a simple space ship within the first hour. I renember the first time I tried Blender, I even didn't know , how to open a file. LOL

Poser needs a true full trained development team for stock figure productions and not load all the work and respondsabilty to one poor freelancer guy with a way to tight dead line, who will be beaten up, when his figures look like cr... ahm... not as expected by poser release.

Blender is on the right way by adding some icons to its UI, but I am not ready for blender and blender is not yet ready for me. Where is the render button? How to navigate the camera? E.g. Imported an obj-file and tried to load textures for it - impossible by just guessing the UI. These are the first things I've tried and failed. Navigation currently is still partially the same the new UI is more like other software than it has ever been before. But have to under it is still in Alpha stage no where near ready for a production environment. There are several tutorials and feature video on YouTube I would search for CGMasters, CG Geek, Jayanam to name a few who have done some tutorials for the new version. I know even me who is a long time Blender user will have to relearn a few things. I think if you watch and give it a real chance you will find the improvements will benefit new users like yourself

Thx for answer. :-) So, what is it? Am I just not enough of a Blender user, to just simply rotate a camera, or is this an issue, that comes with the beta?

As I'm told, you can use the Gen 8 models in current Poser. And I don't know what you mean by start up lighting.

I'll never understand this. If you want to use genesis 8, use DAZ Studio. Project Evolution and Bella are the Figures to use for Poser, forget about the rest. PE is complicated , complex and not easy to use, but this is all because of huge work arounds. I mostley agree with wolf359 here. One more thing, that urgentley needs to be changed in future Poser releases: Stop breaking geometry into parts on figures' base meshes.

I can imagine, that Poser will be revamped dramaticley, which I think is the best SM can do. They changed their location to Portugal, they've changed the development team. I do think, that was unavoidable. Poser needs fresh blood to survive. Poser needs some WOW-figures and some WOW-features, to end this reign of V4. Poser will be save, as soon users drop V4 and are happy to use SM figures. That means SM figures must become better.
