I usually take a trip through a toy store (eithar a small specialty store or a big Box like Toys R Us) or Hobby Shop (planes, trains, and automobiles) next thing I know..... my brain is hurting
Thread: OT - now this is interesting -- paper-thin (almost) new Apple laptop -- | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
uh... okay.... I've worked in the TV industry, as a tech, still do tech work on the side, for the right customers..... and I still have Betamax decks (that work, and that I still use). Why? Because I know what works.
as for the superthin laptop.... i use Macs as well as PC (although lately I'm cruising the internet looking for catapult plans so that I can send the Microbox into the atmosphere), and I can see a use for them, mostly business travellers, and the supra-chic. Convenience is the key, style is the lock!
Thread: OT: Has anybody seen Jane & the Dragon? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've seen quite a bit of it. I think the BG's are down that way to look more like illustrations in a children's book. The close up detail of the faces and of Dragon is phenomenal. Well worth a look!

Thread: anybody running poser 2 on a computer right now? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
the other thing you have to watch out for with these old progs is that you can't run them with a plethora of RAM, they only seem to work on 512 or less. P3 ran on my old PC but when that blew out I had to replace it and the newer faster zap computer wouldn't recognize it even though it ran XP as well.

Thread: OT: My totally awesome new PC and monitor finally set up!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The biggest problem with LCD screens is that you can't put anything on them, like action figures, cards, decorations...... and where are the cats going to sleep when you're working late at night.... ?

sweet system! and off of eBay of all things. do you knowwhat eBay really stands for? Extraterrestrial Backyard, Attic, and Yardsale. See, after studying Earth for all these years and beaming up our technology, the Mother Ship was just too heavy to leave orbit, so they decided to sell off a lot of the things they've "acquired" over the years. Humans got involved, and now everybody is doing it. Think about it!

Thread: e frontier America Products Acquired by Smith Micro | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
this kinda reminds me of the Amiga debacle a few years ago. The Amiga was the first seriously affordable graphics capable computer (for those who didn't know). When Commodore went under, the Amiga name was bandied about like a cheap love doll, until Gateway bought the rights and copyrights to the whole line. Gateway announced things like the (much) needed upgrades, and how they respected the Amiga community (like we've never heard that before) and how the people assigned to the new line of Amiga computers and products would do everything in their power to listen to the community and develope the product fort he actual users.
Then, one day, without warning Gateway said... "Nope, changed our minds.... no Amiga for the masses." (rumour has it that MS had threatened to not issue OS Licenses to Gateway if they continued their pursuit of alternative systems... but that's jus a rumour)....
but that's just me, not really pessimistic but still wary.
Thread: Just my thoughts on Poser..... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm a member of Quickdraw Animation Society (Calgary Alberta) and we were getting into 3D a couple years ago, and I was invited to participate in the planning stages... like, what package would we buy. There was the Maya Guys, the Softimage Group, The Lightwave Camp, the 3DS Bunch and myself. All the parties were boasting on how superior their packages were and why QAS should invest huge gahoolies of cash into their software of choice. When It came to me I said, "Poser would be a good introductory package to learn basic animation, modeling and such.." They scoffed, they laughed, they derided Poser until I asked "And how much animation had you done using these packages?" Only one person had done any animation (please remember that Quickdraw is an animation society)... in Maya and had been working on a short piece for about a year.
QAS went with Maya, I bought P6, installed it on a computer for my own use, and everybody is happy. I teach Basic Poser to people that want to learn.... the people that wanted the High End packages..... no where to be seen.
but that's just me!
