I have Gen X for V4 and V3 - was just trying it out for V3 for the first time - seemed to work fine on the morph part.
It however will not load the original V3 textures.... is that how it is or maybe I did somthing wrong.
The V4 conversions I have don load the texturs just fine.

Quote - Thanks Arumbus. One day I'll re-render it with your suggested light settings.
Some IES files I found:

There are more. Google is your friend :)
I didn't insinunate that I offended you, Bob :) It was just a polite apology.
Thanx Doc.
Those are great.

Quote - The Borrower(s)
Doc, LOVE the scene and the voyeur. Just one little thing. IF realism is an objective. The light levels are considerably off for the amount of light fixtures (level too low) especially at that colour. (rule of thumb whiter/bluer light sources more efficient than yellow) They are too white! Those type of lights are usually quite yellow and run about 2800K - 3200K depending on if they are incandescent or halogen.
You could have the light level where it is but then the colour may be even warmer (lower) as dimming incancesent sources makes them burn a warmer colour.
In case you are wondering, I was in the lighting industry for almost 30 years.
I will be interested to try some IES (Illuminating Engineering Society) files I can get for various fixures at some point. Evidently LuxRender supports them. But only for Science sake. I like to set my own (often unrealistic) light levels.
Just an FYI

Quote - > Quote - My latest Genesis scene hangs when I click render frame. it is just Genesis, hair, and a few pieces of clothing. It brings up the exporting materials, lights and geometry message but never goes any further. Lux never launches.
I need another set of eyes to look and see if I have something in the .lxs that is screwy
There is nothing wrong in the .lxs. The most likely problem is a material in your scene. A simple test: load the lxs in LuxRender and start the render. Click the Log tab and watch the messages. You should see one (maybe more) in red. They might give you an idea which material zone is orreneous. If it doesn't, then the only way to find out is by removing an item from the scene, and send it to Lux via Reality. If it doesn't work, then Edit - Undo Delete in DS, delete something else and send to Lux. Repeat until you find the item which causes the problem.
I had actually tried these except for the manual load into Lux - I did get some errors:
[2012-08-05 11:08:07 Error: 2] PLY loader error: Unable to open file
[2012-08-05 11:08:07 Error: 2] Shape #26 (plymesh): Unable to read PLY mesh file 'none'
I hid one item at a time to no avail.
Of interest is that the scen renders fine in 3Delight and then DAZ closes fine. However if I "try" to render the scene with reality/lux, DAZ gets a fatal error when closing:
DAZStudio.exe caused ACCESS_VIOLATION in module "C:Program FilesDAZ 3DDAZStudio4QtCore4.dll" at 0033:000000006359D2F8, QEventLoop::exit()+8 byte(s)
I am just going to start a new scene! Hopefull I will not have a repeat performance

Thread: D/S 4 rendering v. Poser 8 | Forum: DAZ|Studio
I must agree with mattymanx - it depends on the skill and (artistic) talent of the user much more than the program. I also have both. Every once in a while I get Poser out again and try it again. It is a great program - no doubt about it. But after 8 years (I think) with DAZ it is hard to change horses.

I had a go at an old V3 scene I could never get quite right in Studio alone:

It does sound interesting - let us know your experience

Quote - I think I found your problem! Your write interval is 3600, which means the png won't be created until after the first 60 minutes :) Change it in Reality to 600 (that's 10 minutes) or 300 for 5 minutes.
certainly looks like that should fix it

LOL when I wrote it I did not know your had posted I meant DoctorJellybean - but you certainly qualify too.
Quote - are you having issues with network rendering?
as a matter of fact yes. I could not get it to work and could not figure out why. I figured it was some security thingomobobby (as you can see I am not a network guy). Maybe sometime in the next week or so you can help. I trust a simple home "network" from a dsl modem will suffice? We have most of the machines here are premium not pro.... so I think that mean we can only do a workgroup not true network - have no idea if that even matters.

I did not know it worked with any of the release candidates....

~wink~ or turn your interval down.
EDIT: No you should need to write the .png
but it should not hurt if you do

Quote - Ok, I'm back.. it's now been 11 minutes and no .png file. I have yet to see in the log file that one has been written. Do I need to wait longer?
I have got the .lsx .lxs thins reversed a few time - I almost always have to make a new file name after as the .png did not write.
so name it reality_scene_b.lxs and reality_scene_b.png in the output tab and see if that works.
Not sure if the file gets curupted or what, but that fix worked for me.
