Had to try again. This one uses MatCreator's bacteria spore. Premium render was 11 hours and super fine was 12 so I went with regular, 1 hour. The black spots are from not enough max ray depth. I bumped it up to 9 and most of them disappeared. These are not really abstracts, should be called still-life.

I didn't have any cool thingies like AgentSmith's so I used some objects I made years ago.

Oh my, my render that I started yesterday is STILL going. I let it go overnight and this morning it's at 89%. Argh.

Ok, you got me interested. I started an abstract thread at Daz 3D and it took off. Maybe we can get people interested here too. I'm rendering a very slow one at the moment but I'll give this a try after it's done. Thanks for posting this. Very cool 'thingy'.

Agent, so I went and had a look at your gallery. 2018, I think...but what cool 'whatknots'. Really like the mats you applied.

Ang25, sorry I haven't popped in in a few days. I didn't know that about Facebook. Maybe I'll check that out. Have a great holiday to all and Merry Christmas to those of us who celebrate it.

Hey Miss B and Kiwi_gg, I'm doing David Brinnen tutorials right now. He's so talented. Horo/BryceHoro is very busy with us in the forum. I love his artwork and he's so helpful when we have a question. He also has an amazing website full of information and archived threads. Rashad even showed up to answer a question on how to make a wine material. People are still around.
Kiwi, I did temp work for two years before going back to college and getting my degree. They were wonderful years. Like you say, I could pick and choose what jobs wanted, how long I wanted to work and I worked enough hours to get a paid vacation. They were always offering me permanent positions which made me feel good. I don't want to go to a job anymore and am really looking forward to traveling with hubby and playing golf. I'll load Bryce onto my laptop and take it with me.

Hi Ang25, this forum seems to be abandoned. The Bryce forum at Daz 3D is still kicking. I started an abstract thread and the artwork has been amazing. they are all so creative.
I retired a while back but hubby is retiring early 2021. We were going to travel but Covid 19 has us indoors for now. I'm just now getting back into Bryce. I spent quite some time after retirement doing the catch-up list. You'll eventually finish them all like I did then we'll see you creating new Bryce work.

Yes :) I find it interesting that the USA calls our game football, when they hardly use their feet and we call your football 'soccer', which does use the feet. Confusing, lol.

I only posted this to see if I'd get a reaction. Nope. No problem, I'm just sad that I'm getting back to Bryce so late. It's such an old software and people have moved on. I do hope that this forum stays for a long while just in case I have any questions.
The man who taught myself and a few others to use Bryce back in 2003 created a page of simple tutorials (pictures only). We would create images then he would use them to make jigsaw puzzles for a subscription that he sold. He just informed me that the subscription is now free and he also has some new people learning to use Bryce with his tutorials.
If you like jigsaw puzzles and/or you want to have him use some of your work as puzzles, send me a notification. I'll give you a link to his site.
Thread: Replication question | Forum: Bryce
BryceHoro and David Brinnen actually helped me find the answer to this question. Seems that Bryce primitives can not be instanced. There is no need to instance them because they use up almost no memory. You can replicate them instead with hardly any memory usage. I was directed to this large study tutorial on instancing. Just started reading it, will take a while. https://horo.ch/docs/guests/pdf/InstancingLab_Kine_magiK.pdf
