I'm interested in this also. I've noticed some of the sample terrains are up to 11,000 x 11,000 (x & y) units. Don't forget if you resize the initial terrain and then apply a material extra nodes are added. I'm trying to fathom out the functions and nodes and looking at examples now, but it's a long hard slog working out what each one does, then how they work in combination and then finally being able to make Vue reproduce the results you want. Thankfully the V5i manual is much better than previous versions and details each function in more detail than before. I'm not saying that as a bad thing, but this is the hardest learning curve I've had with Vue so far :)

I've found that playing around with lots of different ecosystems on massive procedural terrains is a sure fire way to get "out of memory" and need to restart.

Hi Tattso :) I'm fairly new myself, but have been lurking for ages, and using Vue since version2 all those years ago :)

Vue 4 (http://www.e-onsoftware.com/Products/vue4/) - $69 and has been for ages...maybe a fairer comparison with Bryce 5 too? Can't see any company in their right mind having crazy give aways 2 weeks after launch of their flagship product tho ;)

Yep, it's on the eon site. It's beta only so the auto-update feature within V5i will not download it for you. Seems to be working fine for me. Some issues with spikes on Procedural Terrains on the sample scenes - other than that rock solid so far.

Hi, I've been doing some very large procedural terrains, populating up to about 11billion polys with the eco system. I've not seen this problem you've had once. Occasionally it will run out of memory and I'll need to restart but not this separation you have. On the off chance, have you got the beta update for 5i from the eon website? V5i won't automatically update this one as it's still in beta. Perhaps this fixes the problem you're having with a bit of luck :)
Thread: Vue 4 ESD | Forum: Vue
Hi, I might be a bit late answering this....but... I bought the Vue4ESD+Extras as a gift, so can compare it to my original Vue4 Esprit. The ExtraESD.zip download contains the majority of the objects and scenes found in the normal Vue 4 Esprit package. If you are new to Vue then I would highly recommend it so that you have some items to play with and pre-made scenes to get familiar with the software.
