I know you said that you tried the different codects... Just in case you have not tried it I would suggest exporting using the Bottom choice... "Full Frames (Uncompressed).... This is the only AVI that I can count on to work all the time. Besides the quality is better.... Good Luck, Christian

Thread: Poser export to other programs? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Lightwave and Max exporters are avaiblable from the Poser 4 Pro Pac.
I believe that Curious Labs is working on Poser 5 exports now....
So as of right now, no.....
Even when they do finally create teh exporters some stuff may not export though, i.e. hair
Reiss-studio.com makes a Poser to Maya exporter... "Body Studio"
Version 1.0 currently works with Poser 4 and Pro Pac but Josh says that there is a work around for Poser 5, this will get you by until he is finished with the new version.

I can't believe some of the responses here.... Poser 5 kicks ass on Poser 4, Yes a little slower and yes there is still some bugs that need to be worked out (CL is working hard to fix).Easier Posing
First off, the new dial controls make it so much easier to pose. The new morph putty tool and the new scale rotation tool also make it easier to pose.
What used to take me two hours I can now do in about five minutes.
Raytrace Render
The new render kicks ass on anything you will get out of Bryce... Realistically you could create a Bryce type scene easier in Poser 5 than you could export all the Poser stuff to Bryce and render there.
The Cloth room is very easy to use and really helps expand what you can create.
The hair Dynamics is cool, I have not mastered it yet but I can safely say that the next closes thing to this you would have to spend at least $5500.00 on another program.
The face room is cool, but not really the high light of the program.
The most awesome part, which at first is a little intimidating, is the Material Room. Here is where Poser really grows up and becomes a real 3D app. With any good raytrace render there has to be a good material shader tree. The shader tree in this program is based on the same interface and structure as Renderman, or PRMan the render that Pixar uses.... this thing is powerful.....
Like I said a little intimidating at first (especially compared to Poser 4) but really cool. Once you experiment a little you will soon realize that it is not as hard as it seems and the possibilities are endless.....
Just check this render that I did....
This is one night of experimenting with reflections and refractions.

This program is well worth every penny and more.....
if you have an older machine you may need to upgrade to something a little more powerful, and until CL works out all the bugs (they are getting close) you will have to tolerate some nuances, but I guarantee that this will be the best software purchase upgrade you make this year.

Thread: How and can I render an animation movie in poser 4? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Not sure if you tried this...
First go to Render/Render Options menu (or Control Y)
and make sure that all four "Surface Detail" check boxes are selected.
Under the Animation/Make Movie menu (or Control J)
look at the Quality pulldown menu....
In there you will have three choices
Select 1) Current Render Settings
Under Sequence type select AVI, After your enter your movie name, you will get a compressions dialog box, If you are on a slower machine use the default "Microsoft Video 1"
If you have a faster machine than I recommend that you scroll to the bottom of that list and select Full Frames Uncompressed.
poser does not come with the better video compressions so consider using a program like Premiere to edit your video and Use either Sorenson or Cleaner to compress it.
I hope this helps.....
May be more information than what you were looking for....
Easy solution I would say it is probably in your render options.... Surface detail ....... Use Texture Maps....
Good luck! Christian
If you post your finished movie online, send me a link

Thread: Idea #1 - Two Poser Galleries | Forum: Community Center
I think the idea of splitting up the Poser galleries is a great Idea.... the one thing that I would like to see more than anything else is a separation from Poser 4 and Poser 5 renders...
I am so anxious to see what others will and are doing in P5... but it is really frustrating to have to go through a million renders just to see one or two P5 renders.
Anyway... that is my opinion.
Thread: I feel I got ripped off with Poser5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Poser 5 is still worth every penny and more. I had even worse experiences with Maya when I purchased that program. Imagine spending $5000.00 on a product that didnt work for the first year that you owned it. Microsoft has yet to release a product that they didnt have to patch at least 2 times. Macs are a little bit better but not perfect either. Really I dont know of a single product that I have ever purchased that was completely bug free. I too would like to see companies put in a little more effort before they release something, and even push the release date back if they have to. But humans make these products and humans make mistakes. I say cast the first stone if you have never made a mistake in your life. I know it is frustrating paying for something that is not perfect, and I have felt the same frustrations when the program gets stuck on a render, or the head doesnt line up in the pose room. And I know there are some disappointed people that are complaining about the stability of P5 and the integrity of Curious Labs. I just want to say that the program kicks ass, there are features that you would have to spend at least $8,000.00 in another app to get the same results... (Hair, Cloth Dynamics, etc.). Even if you did purchase one of the other apps at a much heavier price tag you still would not be able to produce the same kind of results in the amount of time that you can with P5. The new morph putty tool alone is worth the upgrade. See how many hours it would take you in another program to create a model, texture a model, create the bone structure, and then apply all the morph possibilities that are offered in a single P5 character. You would soon duck your head in shame over your bickering. I know for a fact that Curious Labs is very committed to bringing their customers the best value for the money and they wont stop until the program is stable and until their customers are happy. $189.99 is a drop in the bucket compared to what this program is worth. I know all may not welcome my opinions, but it just drives me crazy to see how critical people are. Enough said ChristianB

I used to have the occassional redrawl problem in the past when I had too many programs open... occassionaly I was unable to get P4 to open again after opening too many other programs.... I have not had that problem at all with P5. I am sure you have read some stuff that is making you second guess purchasing the program... believe me the program is well worth the money.

My company OnlineInstructionalVideos is set to release online video tutorials of the entire program (hair room included) mid November... I know it is a ways away but it is coming....

Yes I did see the Card in the box. Thanks for the heads up though. Besides the fact that 3-Axis has not finished their videos either, our videos are taking a little bit different approach... We want to do a break down of all the tools, menus, and basically a real thorough (well categorized) step by step instruction of the entire program Poser Demystified is creating videos that will take the user through a project. Our approach is to create a single reference source for all Poser users beginning to intermediate.

Because Flash is a vector based tool the program will always render a "sorta toon shaded" render. That is what it is supposed to do. If you want a full render to play using a flash player you have to save the animation using one of the animated rendering codecs like an avi then convert it to a QuickTime file and import it into Flash MX.... I just ran a test in P5 and it seems to work as it always did. *Notice the "Flash Settings" in the lower left hand corner of the "Make Movie" dialog box.... this is where you establish the detail of the flash file. Notice the programs default is 4 colors. The more colors you add the more detail you will get and it quickly also increases the file size. Also _ Just so you don't get too excited... the swf's tend to be pretty large so you will have to be creative if you plan on using them on the web.... Here is an example of some flash files that I created in P4 http://www.pmaonline.net/theater/sometimes.htm You will see that I wasted a lot of time putting in nonsensical type things just to get to the couple of frames that I created using Poser. I hate preloaders and I try to avoid them as much as possible. Sorry about the rambling.... I hope this helps ChristianThis site uses cookies to deliver the best experience.
