Damnit, I lose out by 4 days! My hubby bought poser 5 for me for my birthday. He purchased it on Jan. 31. NEXT DAY they announced Poser 6. But wait! CL tells us that if you bought Poser 5 within 45 days of the release date of Poser 6, you get P6 free! Easy to do the math....28 days in Feb., 21 in March equals....49 days. AAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHH!

If you bought P5 within 45 days ago you get P6 free, according to CL.< Tiny, where did you see this? My hubby ordered poser 5 for me the day before Poser 6 came out. Did you get an e-mail from them or something?

And sometimes they just steal it. ChoicePoint, one of the lovely firms that compiles all sorts of personal info on all Americans had data stolen electronically by thieves. From CNN "Thieves steal consumer info database Personal info compiled by ChoicePoint stolen, including Social Security numbers; thousands affected. February 15, 2005: 6:51 PM EST WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Tens of thousands of U.S. consumers face a greater risk of identity theft after criminals gained access to a database of personal records compiled by ChoicePoint Inc., a company spokesman said Tuesday.... " About the only reason this is coming to light is California law forces ChoicePoint and other companies to notify consumers if there is a security breach. If you're in any other state, though, you're out of luck - they need not notify you that your personal info has been stolen. An interesting thread. Forgive me for the late jump-in, but I'm back into Poser after about a year's hiatus for a variety of reasons. My husband purchased me Poser 5 for my birthay (ordering it the day before Poser 6 was announced, lol) V3 and M3 quickly turned me off. It seems almost impossible to make a truly unique face for either, even with all those freaking dials! I just pulled down the free utility to group M3 and V3's dials from the freestuff here, so maybe that will make them more friendly. There are some fantastic clothes for them, so I suspect they will mostly be in my fantasy renders. My tendancy is to buy mostly for textures and make my own characters. V3-M3 looked more like they were optimized for prebought characters. As someone already remarked, Traveler's morphs made Posette one of the most versitile faces ever. I think the key was the morphs that could raise and lower the cheekbones. None of the DAZ figures have ever had that ability, and I suspect that is what limits them. Posette's body, however, was a disaster that even Traveler's wizardry can't fix. I'm interested in a lot of different art genres, including fantasy, pinups and erotica, and having a figure with a good body is kind of a requirement for the latter two. I just finished fixing up all my files and runtimes for P5 so I have not had a huge amount of time to explore Judy or Don. EJ looks like she might be a worthwhile investment. Spent most of this morning looking around the communities at stores, free stuff, and weighing re-upping at Poserword vs. renewing Platinum club (since I can't afford both this month, lol!) Forgive my rambles, I think I'm getting Poser overload.

One of the big faults I find with all Micheal & Victoria's incarnations is the fixed cheekbones. Using the Native american setting moves them some, and I think there's one dial that moved the cheekbones in or out - but other than that, nada. I think that's why, fundamentally, it's really hard to make a Vicky that does not look remarkably like every other Vicky. I was trying to model a specific character from Star Trek last year that has really high cheekbones and had to give up. How are Don and Judy in that regard? Can the face room handle those kinds of variations?

Creating a special 'forum' to discuss propriatary issues, limited in access, would have been the logical reponse to the 'problem,' if there indeed was one. Buisnesses DO need to limit truly propriatary information; I don't dispute that. The clumsy way Tim did it either shows he had A) a severe brain cramp or B) other motives than the stated 'problem.' - i.e. a 'hidden agenda,' as he snidely accused Mehndi of. Bijou wrote "And kicking out a few proprietors of brokerages isnt going to change anything, either. Their friends are still going to be in that forum and pass on anything they want to know." Hi, Bijou! Fancy seeing you here! And a very wise point you make. Let's go back where it's sane, eh, bijou? Our art might be kinky, but our forums are totally sane. Well, ok, mostly sane. Except when Davo's loose.

thebert, I don't see that going after CL will do anything. They have enough problems of their own right now without worrying about Tim's. A couple people I really respect have contacted me privately, besides folks like IB commenting publicly. You're right, this is Tim's problem, not RDNA's. And I do really like Syyd and Traveler. Colm I don't know as well, but I've heard good things about him as well. It's not fair to punish them for Tim's grossly unfair policy decisions.

Jack, looks like my fingers can't type tonight either ; ) Second sentance of first paragraph should have read' "Maybe that will shock him into realIZING what a hornet's nest he's stirred up."

Sorry, Trav, I agree with thebert. I will not give bondware another dime, even indirectly, until Tim sees sense. Maybe this will shock him into realize what a hornet's nest he's stirred up. Or maybe not. Up to you, Tim. You're losing a lot of merchants and, more importantly, customers over this. Is it really worth it? Losing RDNA will hurt even more than losing R'osity; I have a LOT of RDNA stuff on my wishlist, but, sorry, Trav and Syyd. There are malls I don't shop at, either, because of lousy tricks they pulled. I'm sure there are some great merchants that lose out, but they need to talk to their mall management and get them to see sense.

Guess I won't be buying from R'osity OR runtime DNA anymore, because this is just asinine. I have never seen a site do such a good job of shooting itself in the foot. If you guys ran a shopping mall, I suppose you wouldn't allow any stores that DARED to sell anyplace else, eh? Flaxxn in post 73 had it right. GREED. Off to delete my wishlist. I have to wait till tomorrow when I get a big reimbursement from work. WAAAAAH! On the other hand, considering how everyone is probably causing the server to smoke from the customer load.... Anton, ya the man. Looking forward to all sorts of new goodies.

Kupa, Nosferatu, et al: I think you guys are all working too hard. The strain is starting to show. Why don't you take, oh, three or four hours off before going back to 20 hour a day days? My treat.
