I have this bikini and I have just tried opening it in DS 4.5. It opens fine without spikes. I downloaded a new copy from my account here and it worked fine for me.
I tried a variety of things on it. Converted to SubD fine, Triangulated fine, Applied Smoothing fine. I treid most of the morphs and they work as expected. I was not able to get spikes or any strange effects. This is with the bikini loaded into the runtime folder, within the DS content library.
If the people with problems could describe exactly how they are loading it I would be happy to try to replicate the problem. Failing that, perhaps one of them could export the spikey object and email it to you, so you can see what has changed?
Cheers
Ian

I've seen home 'repair' work done by people who must have attended the same school as the restorer of this fresco. At least she didn't burn down the church.

Absolutely yes. The geografting tools allow you to hide parts of the original mesh and weld in another part. That new part can be a static part, like a horn, or a rigged part like a tail. It can have its own morphs, and its own UV map
The new part can be at whatever resolution you wish, the only restriction is that the new part must have one loop of polygons which exactly match the edge of the 'hole' which is made in the original mesh, so that it can be welded.
One of the very clever things about geografting is that morphs on the area which has been replaced can still affect the new part, even though the topology of the new part is quite different. Quite how they achieved that I don't know. Magic I think.

Quote - Going back to the likes of the Renaissance, those guys used a lot of bodily fluids, excretions and the like in mixing up their paint colours, apparently. Definitely wouldn't fancy getting into that.

I just hope they didn't lick the tips of their brushes to get a fine point....
Thread: Is Genesis Killing DAZ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Threads like this do more harm to Poser than they do to DAZ, because they make the Poser community looks like a bunch of spoiled brats who are jealous of other peoples toys.
You don't see these type of threads in the DAZ forums.

Quote - Point light indoors. What's wrong with it?
In a real life situation I would expect to see a lot of diffuse light from the lampshade lighting up the room. The lampshade looks translucent but not really allowing light to pass through onto the wall I think.

If I could make a suggestion.
I see you specified a 4 Tb drive. That's plenty of space, but I would consider using two or more drives of lower capacity. Drive failures do happen and 4 Tb is a lot of data to lose in one go if you are unlucky. With a couple of lower capacity drives you can put copies of your critical data onto both drives, and so reduce the risk considerably.

There is a thread for it further down this forum "posemorphloader - feedback?" by colorcurvature, the author of the program. He has been away for a while but is back now and active in that thread. The program is outstanding, and Hannes is a really clever guy. I helped beta test it for him, and it was a pleasure.

I'll add my vote for your good work basicwiz.
Gremalkyn's idea of a compare and contrast thread sounds good to me and i would be interested in participating in it, in a positive and constructive way.
Personally I would prefer not to have a set 3 strike rule or whatever. I would not like to see someone goaded into crossing the line 3 times and then kicked out, whoever it was.
Thread: Tattoos --- a question of copyright? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
So far as I know the rights to the tattoo design remain with the person who designed them.
Tattooists can purchase the rights to use a certain design, so they would not have designed every tattoo they offer. There are some designs in the public domain, but I don't know what restrictions they might have.
Basically if it's existing recent 'art' or 'design' then someone owns copyright to it.
Sorry I crossposted with Kendra and yourself.
The photograph at the following URL on Ebay recently :-http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110891628745?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Fetched £31 for one negative. It is not a particularly interesting photograph IMHO, and I wouldn't call it artistic, but nevertheless it fetched a high price, probably becasue copyright for the image was included.
I am not the seller of that item and I did not bid on it, in case anyone is wondering.

I've been enjoying playing with Sculptris... and this inspired me now to get ZBrush. I couldn't really afford it. But I got impatient... I will have to sell some of my other stuff now to cover the cost of it I guess. My wife has suggested the drumkit is the best candidate... I don't know why
When my nephews were small children I bought them a drum and a trumpet for Christmas. For some reason my sister didn't talk to me for a while after that. lol

Can we let the lemmings on either side throw themselves over their respective cliffs without the flag waving. I have chosen my cliff of choice, and I am dammed well determined to jump over it. I don't feel the need to make my neighbour jump over it too.
btw does anyone know of a lemming for DS or Poser? I feel the need to make some art..

I logged shortly out after posting the cubed link, so I don't know what went on after that. I agree that it is a pity whenever good information is lost.
If another similar thread comes up perhaps if there was no baiting from one point of view, then those who feel differently wouldn't feel obliged to respond. We all know when we are posting something derogatory, whether that is about another user, or another company or its products.
I don't think we are going to change each others minds, other than in a negative way, so perhaps we can agree to disagree, and not keep raking the coals and reigniting the flames, as it were. Please note I am carefully avoiding naming anyone, or either side in the argument.
I think we also should consider how these fights makes us look ( and I include myself ) to other users and visitors to the site, and how it makes Rendorosity look. Also the hard work and stress it creates for the mods and admins.
