if you want to uniformly scale something in the assembly room quickly... Hold down the shift key while you scale. This will do the same thing and avoids the need to group and then ungroup a single object.

"Bryce being the one exception, because its booleans don't really change the model's geometry, but rather just changes how the model renders" That's innaccurate. Infini-D did/does the same thing.

PS8 was projected for fourth quarter, not third which means you won't be seeing it until October the earliest and I would't even count on that. Later in the fourth quarter is more likely.

Grim You think that: "I found being welcomed by a totally gratuitous pair of tits off-putting" is clearly not an aversion to breasts? Sure seeme like it to me. Even if it wasn't, that fact that he see's a girl who is clearly in beach attire "unsolicited nudity" says he needs to get out a bit more. Then he says "If you're going to ask people to look at that, warn them." As if someone forced him to look at something truly horrific. I don't care what he says, in his post he comes off like an angry 10 year old girl. If this guy ever get's a look at a Victoria's Secret catalogue he'll probably start bleeding from his eyes.

"the term is not defined in the manual as far as I can see" Did you try looking in the index? The proper use of shadow catchers is explained on pages 394-396 in the C2 manual. However, as it's already been pointed out, in your situation you do not need them at all.

" Carrara basics, most of the features of Carrara, with a $99 price tag. " It has "some" of the features, not "most". There's a reason it's $99.

Each time a move to a new city you also acquire a new name? Are you in witness relocation or just plain on the run from the law?

Thread: big mapping trouble... | Forum: Carrara
Looks like your face map is set to PROJECTION MAPPING/FLAT MAPPING. It's projecting the face on to the head object much like a projector would project a movie onto a screen. If you moved the screen, the movie would not move with it. Instead, set it to PARAMETRIC MAPPING. This will solve the problem. You may need to use a RECT LAYER to get to get the face to the proper position but once you do it will move along with the head object.
Thread: Splash Screen | Forum: Photoshop
Nope. Look closer. It's done on purpose. They've "reversed reality" for that image. (it is after all the PS splash screen). They've put the sky and clouds down where you would expect to see water and the water ripple texture up into the sky. It's a subtle but effective effect. Not sure if youre on a Mac or not but if you are, for fun hold down the Apple key and go to about Photoshop in the Apple pull down for the "alternate", "Liquid Sky" splash screen. (if you haven't already). They do this type of stuff all the time. In Illustrator 10 if you do it (this time with the option button) you get the very primitave splash for Illustrator 1.1. I don't know how to access either of those on the Win version but someone else probably does.

Have you considered it's not PS but your Windows machine that is the problem? No problems on the Mac side.
