I think she bends pretty well at the knees. I did go a lot farther than DAZ did on V4 though, different JCM, different (and more) bend-helping magnets, but V4 was the starting place.

I assume you tried resaving the OBJ from UV mapper?
I run into a problem a couple times when the Max exporter did something strange and this fixed it.
Thread: Does a Mac render any faster than a PC? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
To tell the truth, I think Mac's interface went downhill with OS 10.
Bear in mind, I'm talking about the interface itself, not the features. OS 9 was (to my mind) the perfect compter interface, it operated in a logical manner, and compared to Windows it was a lot less "Gee-Wiz", a much more minimal, simple interface. I think OS 10 is way too much "lets make it like Windows", myself.
I think the applications should be the stars, not the interface itself. Of course this flies 100% against the current grain, Microsoft in particular wants you to buy and convert to a new, even more top heavy operating system every three years or so, so they can keep the money rolling in. Vista is a perfect example of where this is leading, slower, bigger, bloated, and filled with features that many will never use.
Meanwhile, I'm still back two generations, on Windows 2000, which may be the best one MS ever made. I put it on my two-montgh old computer, too, no problems, all the new hardware still supports it.
I'd like to get a Mac too, though... Maybe an old G4 running OS 9!

Don't get me wrong, I like Macs.... ;-)
When I had my last "real" job I was sort of the Mac specialiist too (I kept about 100 of 'em going), but that is somewhat ancent history, as I faded away back in the G4 days.
Let me say this though- no Mac, absolutely no Mac, has been as fas as a PC that cost the same in a long, long time.
Apple's profit margin is far higher than anybody who makes PCs. These days they are running about the same hardware too - back in the old, old days MACs had things like SCSI drives as standard, which no PC ever did.
Don't buy a MAC for speed.

Thread: How many versions of Poser are you running? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just 4.
Poser 4 and 5 mostly just for testing these days. I suspect Poser 5's days are numbered, though.
Poser 6 is mostly what I work in, actually have 3 copies on two computers (I have to totally clean out a copy of Poser when I test a new product, to make sure no files are missing from the Zip, one copy is just for that).
I don't use Poser 7 much yet, but it is on two computers, too. I haven't had any trouble with it at all, though.
ProPack is gone, though.

I did this so long ago I can't remember how I did it, but I seem to recall part of it was the special tricks in the bicycle itself, the figure is conformed to the bicycle, not the other way 'round.
Your results will vary on other bicycles!

Have you seen my new Super Salon Hair at DAZ? This hair uses a new system of fitting, it makes conforming hair fit like prop hair, only retains the automatic conforming, and the big advantage is hair fitters are no longer needed.
I created it when I dispaired of fitting conforming hair to Ingenue Vicky, who is so small that most conforming hair just can't be gotten on her. Using the new system you can fit hair to GJ in a couple of minutes.
It only works on the hair I've created new CR2's for, but there are 6 of them in the initial set, including other people's hair.

2. Get retail rather than OEM version of burner to get software.
I bought a OEM version of my second Lite-on, BTW, as I read the original (Nero) drivers would still work (It was a newer model, slightly faster)
Guess what, they didn't work!
I found a set of "generic" Nero drivers though, for about $10, which did work, but I'll buy the Retail version next time!
Incidently, I've been building my own systems since my last pre-assembled one (which was a 386), and let me say it is getting easier and easier to set them up. While you don't save a lot of money building them yourself, you do get better components.
The downside is if there is a problem... I've had bad memory, bad motherboards, bad drives, sometimes it is hard to figure out what is wrong, too. But components do seem to be getting better.
The ATI cards (at least some of them) are supposed to have problems with 64-bit Windows, I hear. My "old" system has a ATI workstation card (a 9800 Pro), the new one has a ATI gaming card (a 1950X), the later seems to run Max 9 AND Poser better, if anything, but it doesn't really support dual monitors (in spite of what ATI says). I'm going to try a second video card in the new box.
After I lost a couple months of work in my old-old system I got a lot more religious about backing up my new-old system (which has RAID 0, plus a dedicated backup drive). However, as the new-new system is on RAID 10 I don't plan on doing many backup (RAID 10, as you probably know is RAID 0 + 1, you need 4 identical drives). Still, I make my living on the computer, for others it might not be worth it.

Hi dphoadley!
Well, bear in mind it has to be Glamorous Jessi and or Glamorous Glennis, and they aren't characters, but real figures, so you have to work from their mesh, not Jessi's.
This is going to be tougher than doing the Posette, I guess you know (I saw your other post). Still, I'll pay money for the work, and I know (roughly) how much labor is involved, I not expecting it to be a $50 job!
GJ uses the low res head, GG the high-res one. Both use the high res body.
Neither version can take any stock Jessi body morphs, incidently, as they are extensively recut, plus have things like pubic hair that change the vertex counts. They can use Jessi head morhs, though.
I'd advance a copy of GG and GJ to any bono-fide person intrested in doing the mapping (and didn't already have her), incidently, as she is awful, awful expensive. ;-)

Quote - I have heard reports of P6 running slower on dual-core machines.
As I don't plan to go to P7 until they have the bugs ironed out, I may not get any benefit from an upgrade of my PC in the short term. May be a backwards step.
Oh Crap! Now I'm really not sure what to do!!!!!!!!!!
P6 and P7 run MUCH better on my Intel Duo-Core machine.
Using my "Poser 5 CPU test" (hair missing in Poser 6 deleted) I get times of about:
140 seconds Poser 6 Pentium 3.5 Ghz
135 seconds Poser 7 "
97 seconds Poser 7 " Two threads
(was 207 sec in Poser 5, incidently)
With the 6400 Intel Duo Core I get:
67 seconds Poser 6
64 seconds Poser 7
42 seconds Poser 7 - 2 threads
40 seconds Poser 7 - 4 threads
About twice as fast, which is about what I hoped for. I haven't overclocked or optimed the computer yet, either.
What is suprizing is the 3 year old Pentium 3.2 Northbridge (overclocked to 3.5) also does much better with 2 threads, but this chip is supposed to also have some kind of dual treading stuff, I think.
I'l post the "Poser 7 CPU Test" when I get around to it, I haven downloaded the SR1 patch yet.
Thread: My first custom PC build -- begging for advice on this proposed setup... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'd skip the CPU fan, as I mentioned the Core 2 Duos seem to run pretty cool, and the retail box version's included fan/heat sink isn't too bad, nice and quiet too. Plus most of the cases these days seem to have a vent and pipe to bring cool air directly down to the CPU.
I'd add a front case fan though, unless your new box already comes with one (mine did). They help to cool the drives.
I also went with the Corsair matched memory and the 7200.10 drives, which are supposed to be faster than the 7200.9 ones, a little harder to find, though.
The Lite-on DVD burners you had in your original spec are fine, incidently, I've got two of 'em. I suspect all the DVD burners come from the same factory in China these days, they only change the front plate to make 'em Sonys or whatever... ;-)
Thread: All people making dresses-skirts, miniskirts for V4 and V3 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I find it takes more than just making the dress dynamic to do poses like this, though. For one thing you get an ugly mass of squished polygons on the inside of the bend at the hip, where the dress folds in on itself.
I include a pre-form morph to help the cloth room, seems to work fine.
Thread: My first custom PC build -- begging for advice on this proposed setup... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've just got done building a system, so I'll make a couple comments:
I'd also say go with the Intel CPU, for one thing they run much cooler, and thus quieter, and the stock (retail box) cooling fans are fine with them.
I also agree with th ecomments above- don't bother witha sound card, most of the motherboard ones are fine.
RAID 10 is nice, too- While you need 4 160 GB drives to make 320 GB, they run throughput twice as much, and the setup is redundant. I had one of the new drives fail after about 2 weeks, the replacement was painless, the system (I'm still running Win 2000) took care of moving all the data to the replacement drive, automatically.
My system came out to about $1500, with the 4 drives, Core 2 Duo E6600, 2 GB RAM (really all Windows can use), ATI X1950XT graphics card (good buy for $250, but it will NOT drive two monitors), 600 W power supply, no operating system, no monitors.
You still need a floopy to instal the RAID drivers, though... ;-)
