Quote - I have three items which I cannot get to work under XP64 - a Palm device, a Zune mp3 player, and an HP printer that's about 3 years old. The Palm and the Zune both have to be synced on the 32-bit side of my dual-boot setup -- and the printer will only print on the 32 bit side.
However, the Zune .mp3 player is supposed to be compatible with Vista 64. I'm not sure about the Palm. There are no 64 bit drivers available for the HP printer -- neither XP nor Vista.
Software-wise, I haven't had any problems at all under XP 64. In fact, everything runs better than it does under 32 bit XP.
I haven't liked Vista since it first came out. But now they seem to be showing some movement towards improving it. Plus -- as others have hinted -- hardware & software manufacturers are gradually catching up. Vista is beginning to show signs of life, I think. It's taken awhile to get there.
Palm does not support 64 bit... People have been complaining about this for a long time now.
I find it hard to believe that the render engine is 64 bit in OSX when nothing else is...

Quote - try zipeg on a Mac, uncompresses just about everything and its donation ware

Stuffit expander is free... and OSX will unzip just about anything. You might need to go to the command line.
I like how people are trying to take advantage of not so knowledgeable users and sell them things they already have. Stuffit doesn't do much for you that you can't do on the command line.

Quote - Yep - gzip and gunzip are nestled in OSX. You can do it yourself, or be lazy and use this (name it "pack", or whatever you like):
#!/bin/sh<br></br><br></br> # cheesy little script. do whatever you like with it.<br></br><br></br> # usage:Â pack <file> [newname]<br></br><br></br> if [ "$2" != "" ];<br></br> then<br></br> Â Â Â Â gzip -c $1 > $2.gz<br></br> else<br></br> Â Â Â Â gzip $1<br></br> fi<br></br><br></br> exit
Took all of 30 second to whomp it out, so test it first. :)
/P
Hmm thanks :)

Quote - Poser comes with scripts to compress/uncompress files.
Using the supplied script should prove to be much easier than other utilities for compressing files.
No Poser. I switched to Mac and the "sidegrade" fee is $130. It's not worth it for something that I've heard doesn't work very well in Leopard. Maybe when Poser 8 comes out.
I can write a shell script to gzip and rename files.

Thanks. I checked the uncompressed files and the bones are still missing. I'll talk to Daz.

I'm on a Mac. =D
I tried gzipping the file and renaming to .crz, seems to open ok, but I got a few errors about missing bones on this product: http://www.daz3d.com/i.x/shop/itemdetails/-/?item=6647&cat=421&_m=d
Thread: Upgraded RAM -- but very little render time improvement | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Daz Studio is a 32 bit application. It won't take advantage of extra memory over 2, even on a 64 bit system. The Windows kernel itself takes up 2 gigabytes.
High end apps have faster rendering engines. I can render the same image in Cinema 4D and it will take fractions of the time as Daz Studio.

Don't those blue lights annoy you when the room is dark? I don't understand the obsession with putting those ultra-bright blue LED's on everything nowadays. My husband's HP laptop has one where the power plugs in. Why?
Thread: Infinite 6.5 on mac pro quad core, 5 gig of RAM | Forum: Vue
As far as I understand it, Carbon was a band-aid solution to bring pre-existing apps into OS X and make them look like the rest of them. Apple really wanted everyone to write in Cocoa...
As far as bootcamp goes... since I have xStream I'm moving my Cinema 4D license to Mac, so it's not going to do me a lot of good to dual boot. :(

How well does xStream behave on a Mac Pro? I just ordered one... should be here at the end of this month. =D
Izaro: thanks for that link. Well, that really kills it for me. They wrote it in Carbon instead of Cocoa like good developers, and now they are suffering since Apple pulled the plug on 64 bit Carbon support. Kind of like Adobe, ne?

If you want to install it to an external runtime, make a text document and rename it to "poser.exe", and place it in the external runtime.
