start with blocking in the darker areas, then turn your brush down to about 28-35 opacity, use the smaller 3 point brush and paint in each layer; then you have to get creative, brushing in layers to go from dark to light...use the multiply, burn, screen, and vary the lighting on differnt layers just to add depth. Hair on the top layer should be drawn in using the finest brush size, 1. remember not very many hairs are just straight, they are sometimes very messy so your brush strokes should be different...just keep building the layers...

I am just giggly over the possibility of more horse stuff! :-)...hackamore "bits" and mechanical hackamores are sort of hybrid inventions which act upon pressure points on a horse's head; in my view it depends entirely on the horse, I have had horses that responded very well to these with light contact, others have acted as if they could care less.....believe it or not there is a whole lot of psychology and physiology that goes into the choice of equipment.....and in the methods used to communicate with horses. The real secret is to understand how to reach the horse's mind; establish a mutually agreed upon set of signals and then to speak to the horse in a "whisper", which means nothing more than the lightest touch possible either in words or movement....in reality cruelty lies in the lack of respect for the varied personalities in horses and in not taking the time to understand the individual animal. A person cannot make a horse do what nature has not equipped it already to do.

OH cool!....this is a standard Bosal with the Mecate tied up the way it is done in western Hackamore classes. There is a real art to training and riding with this equipment, there are several weights to the Bosal, as the coordination between horse and rider improves the bosal gets smaller until the bit is introduced and the horse has a pencil or smaller diameter.... this is too cool!....I can see some authentic models for equipment being dreamed up...YIPEEE>....
