Where does PostgreSQL CMS (64 bit) need to go in DAZ?

My Documents/DAZ 3D/My Libraries ?

Or - Program Files/DAZ 3D/DAZ Studio 4 ?

"Please make sure you install the PostgreSQL CMS." That's one of the things I couldn't get installed from DIM a few days ago, as mentioned in another thread. Should I/we manually download from DAZ site and install that(Postgre...)before trying to install anything else?

Better to see final rendered images in Photoshop. In looking at my old DAZ work from before the hdd crash of 2014, and getting busy with photography work which I had to get back to after reinstalling Windows, I can tell you that everything looks much better in 5K. Especially photography captured on 36MP cameras.

My last monitor, a trusty old HP 1920x1200 which had served me well for nearly 8 years finally kicked the bucket last Summer. I had planned on upgrading to a new hi-res monitor anyway later on, but when Old Faithful finally died, I needed something new & decided that was as good a time as any to spring for the new Dell. Got it on Amazon for about $800 less than Dell's msrp of $2,599. Everything on this thing is clean, clear & crispy. 4K videos from YouTube are mighty sweet too.

Yes, I have Photoshop. "If you have Photoshop set it up under the Applications tab in preferences;..." Applications tab in Preferences inside the DS program?

I'll try it. Come to think of it, seems to me, that when I was last using DAZ(4.03) I installed Ron's brushes into Photoshop in Presets/Brushes. So we don't do that now?

Also, for Photoshop Bridge, how best to do that? Does it work with Photoshop CS6 and 7?

One more question for content in DIM: What is PostgreSQL and what does it do? Is it important? That's another one that won't install.

Daz 3D is aware of the issue. A solution is being worked on, especially since 6K and 8K monitors are starting to hit the market. :) It just isn't ready yet.

I hope they are working on it. Man, 6-8K monitors! Imagine that res on a typical size monitor. Subatomic sized text & graphics! lol But the image quality from those things will be off the charts!

What's the proper path for Ron's Brushes in Photoshop?

But the most pressing matter at the moment as far as the other downloaded content goes, it was there to begin with, such as the Barefoot Dancer Tutorial girl, various IRay lights, Genesis clothes & props, but after I browsed around the GUI and tried out different workspaces & styles, when I went back to try the Barefoot Dancer girl in that 4.8 intro tutorial, I noticed that 300+ products which had been downloaded & originally had thumbnails in the Smart Content tab were no longer there, and that only 21 items/products had thumbnails, but even for them, I got an error message saying that this or that could not be found when I double-clicked any of them. I didn't delete anything! All I did was click around the various panes & viewports, and yeah, tried different workspaces & styles like Dark Side, Main Street, Hollywood Boulevard, etc to decide which layout I could see better with. But where did all the content go? Did simply clicking around & adjusting viewport sliders corrupt or delete files? I don't see how that could happen.

A lot of people were dissing 7Zip in the app store, for reasons I've forgotten now, but the negative comments were the reason I decided against it.

I chose WinZip from the main WinZip site, and then got a lot of malware warnings from my security program. Had a lot of malware to clean up afterward which I think is taken care of now. It does work to give me more control of where to extract to, but the new GUI is kinda confusing. With the old WZ, I used to be able to just select:

Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library and about 9/10 times would get it done right.

But now, when I use the newer WinZip and choose Extract To for My Library, all it does is extract the documentation, but not the main content like morphs, poses & such. That's when choosing the WinZip icon in the scroll down menu after right clicking the zip file.

Now if I choose Open With at the top of that scroll down menu and choose WinZip, it gives me more to work with & I have a lot more choices. The question now is which folder within folder do I choose? Do I choose the first Runtime folder within My Library or the Runtime folder within the top level Runtime folder or something else entirely?

Is a 13" 4k monitor what you're using? I feel your pain. lol And yes, you're right, I did NOT get a 5K monitor to crank the resolution DOWN to a very low setting.

I actually got out an old magnifying glass my grandmother used to have to read books in her 90s, and that was AFTER I'd cranked up the text size in Windows settings to 350%.

I checked the tiny gear symbol in the upper right of DIM and the install path reads as follows:

DAZ Studio 4.5+(32 bit) C: Program Files (x86)/ DAZ 3D/Studio 4

DAZ Studio 4.5+(64 bit) C:Program Files/DAZ 3D/Studio 4

The curious thing to me is why it says "DAZ Studio 4.5+ when the program it installed was DAZ 4.8. But 4.8 did install & does open, hence my other thread about miniscule text & graphics when used with this monitor, but that's a discussion reserved for that thread.

Anyway, are those install paths given above correct? Because I just tried to install it again a few minutes ago, and it still doesn't work.

To answer your question Richard, all 13 files(Victoria 4, Ron's brushes & Photoshop Bridge) gave similar error messages regardless of which. They all said:

""Install Manager cannot find a required path. The package for_________requires that the install path be defined. Make sure that a path for this application is present on the Applications page of the Settings dialog, then try again."

Would you mind showing a lighting diagram illustrating how you lit your subjects with lRay in DS?  

"You can do a three character scene with HDRI lighting and background in well under 10 minutes with a reasonable class machine (NVIDIA 7 series card and up, Quad I7 processor, and at least 8 gigs of RAM).

As soon as you start adding scene geometry, the time goes up significantly since all that bouncing around of light takes time to calculate.  I can't get an indoor scene where all the furniture and walls are geometry to render in anything less than an hour with a dual quad core I7, 72 GB ram, NVIDIA 970 card.

Is that a typo or do you really have 72GB of RAM? Holy s###!  What kind of machine do you have?!

 How about Windows compatibility? Win 7/64? Windows 10 ready?

Maximum output size? Compatible file formats for saving? I see you have .Png format selected. Any others like Tif or Bmp?
