Subject: How to Save A Character Preset in DS 4.8? What is TriAx Weight Mapping?

MarkR151 ( ) posted Sat, 23 January 2016 at 3:13 AM · edited Sun, 15 December 2024 at 1:56 PM

If I want to make & save a Character Preset in 4.8 with Vicky 4, how do I do that? Because when I went to save the V4 character I've had to recreate from the very beginning, I got an error message saying she had to be a "TriAx Weight Mapped Character."

So refresh my memory again since I've been away from DAZ until just the past week. How do I save V4 as a TriAx Weight Mapped file again? I don't remember having to do this with DS 4.0.

That save function is for DS native weight map rigged figures only (Genesis 1, 2 & 3), for Poser figures you either need to save it as a scene subset, or use "File > Save as > Deprecated > Character preset", but this one only saves the dial settings so you will need to load and INJect the morphs before you can use it again.

Genesis and Genesis 2 figures use DAZ tradmarked Triax rigging system which is proprietary to DAZ. Genesis 3 uses Dual Quaternion rigging as well UDIM mapping.

Thanks guys. So tell me again what the benefit of TriAx weight mapping in Genesis 2&3 is? Does it just make the body conform to clothes or vice versa better?
