I was stopped taking pictures at an airport at Daytona once. The airport borders the Dayton Speedway and while driving in, we pulled over to snap a couple off photos of the racetrack. An goldcart airport guard whipped up and let us know there were no photos allowed on airport property, even if we were aiming in the opposite direction. As my husband stood outside the car on the airport side, talking to the guard, I had my camera resting on the window frame of the car and got 4 last photos. 3 of them turned out decent. Their policy had to do with 9-11 which had happened just 3 years prior and their security secrecy. Yet, I've always been welcome to take photos inside and out of the Sacramento International Airport... go figure?

I've found that true with only parents being the drawback. I can get a great natural shot full of personality and youth and the parents will gripe about the hair being out of place or something other than a benevelant look on the face. But kids are great to shoot when they are just being themselves and not all dressed in velvet and sitting cross-legged in a wicker chair. :-)

I know someone who did. The case, as many are, ended up being settled out of court for a tidy sum. People play on that thought - that people won't make a fuss over something that costs money to start, but that's why we artists keep losing our art.

Great article and a subject that will never fully be resolved. As an artist, all a photographer can do is take every precaution with copyrights and watermarks, and patrol the Internet. TinEye is an excellent on-line,web search program and one every digital photographer should use. Also know the steps you can take to stop unlawful use by a preditor - there is a certain procedure that is recognized by the law and will make it easier for you to defend your property.
Thanks for the reminder, Ilona.

I like that answer and your reasoning is great. I also find the IRs are so wonderful done with blues enhanced.

I know a gentleman who favors reds and does exceptionally well in that. Tara, you're funny... I bet you look betterin browns than you think since you always look so good. The choice of color seems to define inflection in a photo and it also embraces the photographer's approach to his subjects, I think.

I've had two instances where this info would have been good to know. And now I do. I never argue with people who ask me not to take pictures, but my approach to my response would be different and WILL be now.
Thanks.

I tend to go with the ambers - like sepia but a little warmer.

Thread: When to ask permission to photograph someone on the street | Forum: Photography
I used to do the "passing out of the cards" when I was doing wildlife artistry and attended the shows. It was great because I had a studio.
I want to hand out business cards now for street photography but I don't currently host my own website or have a studio. I can see the cards now:

Thread: Something else to ponder... | Forum: Photography
I know I like knowing what I have in my hand - "this is a camera." "This is a cell phone." "These are my car keys." And so on. I like items that have a single purpose. That way if one function goes on the fritz, I'm only out the one thing and it doesn't mess up a whole gizmo. (Please don't let my "tech-talk" confuse you...) It's like when they came out with the TVs with the built in VHS player in it...If the TV went out, the VHS player was trash even if it wasn't broken because what could you watch the movie on? I like things that FEEL substantial as well because it makes me feel spending 6 months worth of my savings on it really BOUGHT me something and not some flimsy toy.
*I've been one of the worst when it comes to moving up with modern technology because I don't understand why you need something "better" when you already have something that fits your needs and works well. I may be changing my mind though if I lose support for the electronics I own... Sort of like that VHS player..........................

I have been very impressed with the hints I've gotten from this site. I've done a couple of weddings in the past but I sure wish I could go back and do them over with some of the things I've learned from this guy. :-)
