Thread: Making real statues out of Poser figures | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I had one done of my RobbyBobby character a year or so ago. It cost me $65 to do and the quality was less than satisfactory. It was done on what is billed as a 3D printer from an OBJ file that I provided and, among other things, it couldn't do hair at all because of the transmapping. It also couldn't do the clothing because that was only two dimensional. The bottom line is that I ended up with a bald and naked version of myself in my twenties that is a bit...shall we say..grainy. It has been a bit of a conversation piece, though. We keep it in a curio cabinet along with the mythological statues (Pegasus and Perseus, Poseidon and Hades with Cerberus).
Oh yeah, it also provided a stand in the object file that didn't make it to the final piece. As a result, there is a little strip of "material" connected to the feet, but it's not enough to stand the piece up. So, I glued a couple of magnets to the bottom and put it on a metal coaster (the coaster is pewter, so it kind of looks OK like that). :D
Thread: Using real skin shader for mil folks having problems | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Real Skin Shader was designed to work with the Millenium characters. The problem associated with using it with other figures is that there may be body parts that have a different naming convention.
If you open up the script in Word Pad, or some other text editor, and locate the line that has the valid body part names, you can easily add the unusual parts to the list. I've done that to use it with the Koshini/Ichiro group of figures.

Thread: what about faceshop pro | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've been playing with Faceshop Pro for a couple of days now and I finally got a morph that looks good (to me). I used a pic of Tom Welling (Smallville) to make the morph target. Of course, it doesn't necessarily look a great deal like Tom, but it does look more realistic than a lot of other characters I've seen out there. If anyone's interested in seeing the pic, take a look at my gallery. My deviantart page (robbybobby.deviantart.com) and my ARTZONE page have other pics as well; including the Tom Welling pic that I used, along with a pic of the morph target itself from Faceshop.

Now that's funny...it's been a long, long, long time since I was under 13.
Thanks...I'll try it out later. Rob

This is a bit off your topic, but I tried to register on the planit3d.com site a couple of weeks ago and never received a confirmation e-mail. I can't log in because it shows an invalid username and/or password. I can't create a new request because it says that the e-mail is already associated with another user name. ??
Oh, yeah...the e-mail address is robbybobby13@aol.com.

Thread: Any experiences with stereolithography to create real statues? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
So far, I've sent three OBJ files to get quotations. In each case, there's been a problem. The first two were transmapped hair related. These guys were great in explaining that, because there were certain sections of the hair that had zero thickness, the printer would not be able to distinguish where to start and stop. The result would have been as extreme as having the head literally fall apart. Surprisingly, the last attempt, which was my own RobbyBobby character in chaps and vest, would not work because the said chaps and vest are single sided meshes...again, no thickness...no print. That one surprised me and now I'm wondering if I'd run across that same problem with other clothing items. So, the next attempt, which should have been last night, but I had problems starting up Poser for some reason, will be NRBNTNSANH (Naked RobbyBobby, No Temple, No Sword And No Hair).
Thread: Any experiences with stereolithography to create real statues? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I have. 3DArtToPart.com is great for this. I've had them make statues for me in the past and they're making one for me now of one of my products here. In the past two days, I've sent two object files to them. In both cases they contacted me to explain that, before they could give a quote, the hair would have to be fixed (in both cases they said that the thickness was minimal and would not print). Although I really appreciate the fact that they gave me this warning, instead of just blindly giving me a quotation, I'm at a loss as to what to do to fix the hair situation. I'm assuming that it's because the hair is transmapped. Any suggestions?
Thread: Strategies for runtimes - what's yours? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I just finished moving all the geometry files to the new individual poser folders:
Aiko and Hiro
Koshini and Ichiro
Michael
Victoria
David and Stephanie
Props
Scenes
Furniture and Fixtures
Toons
Lights
Poses
Animals
Vehicles
Textures (in the end, this will just be the various texture tiles and I'll have moved all the other character/clothing/scene specific ones to the appropriate folders)
I may further sub-divide down the road...but it's been a bitch moving the geometry files around. I also have an archive directory that has stuff I don't use and a blank Start and End here folder to speed up the opening and closing of Poser.
Thread: The case of the missing Geometries | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Don't know if anyone is interested, but I found my missing geometry files. I just finished moving all my geometry files to the character specific runtimes and, in the process, came across a folder in my P4 runtime called prefs. There was another geometries folder within that folder and, lo and behold, all the missing object files were there...including the gasp Satanica penis. All's well that ends well.
Now I'm working on moving the texture files to the appropriate runtimes. sigh
Thread: The case of the missing Geometries | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Actually, I recently did a defrag. I was wondering more in the line of whether or not there could be issues due to the number of geometry files that exist in that folder. Up until now, all the files have been in the main runtime folder. I'm just now getting to the point where I can start moving the files to the runtimes where their associated CR2's are.
