Current prices at Amazon for Poser 9 and Poser Pro 10 are $70 and $80, so that should be less of a financial burden for those who want to be able to provide content for Poser and are not able to deduct the purchase as a business expense.

The more you guys post, the more I like what I hear. Massive marketing just cannot replace communication between a company and its customers. I'm looking forward to the new store and new forum as much as I am looking forward to Dawn.
Quote - Hi folks,Thought I would share some updates since we have been ramping up the work on Dawn.
The baked reflections have been removed from the eye textures and the specular settings adjusted accordingly for both Poser and DAZ Studio.
Dawn does have a hip material zone in addition to others.
HiveWire 3D's products created in house will support both Poser and DS. Tutorials will be provided to convert from one program to the other. For the people that want to do this conversion, having at least Poser9 and DAZ Studio 4.5 is a requirement, if only for testing. We encourage content creators to make products work in both programs but understand it is a choice based on investment vs return. All options are being explored, including ones suggested in this thread, to help ease in the conversion process.
Lastly, we do read this forum. We are taking all of the critisim seriously, both good and bad, and we understand frustrations, questions, choices, excitement, etc... We will use all of this information to improve our products, now and in the future.
Thank you for all of the feedback!

I ... on the other hand ... look forward to you making Poser content again. Even if it's not as enjoyable for you as making DS content.
Quote - Afterall...lets face it....making stuff for poser is about 5 times the work as it is for d/s.Wether you like daz or not, you can tell by their software that they come from a content creation background and really do give great tools to make content creation a much more streamlined process.....whereas for poser most of the methods of doing things are hacks that need alot of independantly created apps to even start to do effectively, and even then it often requires a ton of hand editing to get just what you want.
I am really not looking forward to going back to make poser versions.

I'll be sure to look at them.
I just won't mention Dawn's name. Though it seems it's been ok to mention the store Hivewire in the topics asking where Lisa' and Ken's products were.

Well, since I do have my hands on her, I just posted the ones I had here in "The Non-DAZ3D Figure Render Thread" you were referring to :). :)
Not that I've gotten any positive feedback anywhere I've posted them, but at least I'm having fun trying her out...

Which is rather odd, because it's commercial content that they've stated cannot be promoted on their forums, and Dawn on release will be free.
Oddly enough, I am not even getting emails telling me my posts have been removed. I've even checked under spam :P But ... I get every single one of those annoying daily marketing emails ... and talk about spam! How many marketing emails from a single company do I need in one day? They are as obnoxoius as Sears. (I like Lands End products, but now that they are owned by Sears, I get multiple Lands End marketing emails every day. Including ... Last day for this sale! emails multiple days in a row.)
Once we have our hands on Dawn, we will be able to post renders in the "other figures" topic though .
As far as Genesis (I didn't and don't plan to download the crippled "Genesis" 2 as DSON isn't and won't be installed on my new computer), Dawn bends better than it does. I tried the hand on the shoulder pose I requested to be tried on Dawn with both Genesis (in Poser and DS), and V4 and V4WM. While it was a no brainer that Dawn would do better than either V4, she also did better than Genesis.
I'm sure there will be DS users who will have no interest in trying Dawn (even though she will be free on release) and that's fine. The point is that there no longer HAS to be a schism between DS users and Poser users, and it's quite telling when someone tries to convince the community that Dawn will be a failure because she isn't from DAZ. Seriously? Does anyone really think Chris Creek doesn't know what he is doing?!?
Quote - Interesting thing though, DAZ forums now clearly showing unusually strong censoring of any reference to Dawn in posts... even a sensible discussion in the PC members area was all deleted (no links had been posted and nothing anti-DAZ had been said, only speculation of comparing to existing DAZ figures). It seems quite clear now that DAZ are seeing Hivewire's Dawn as serious competition.

Sounds like my hands are more masculine than yours, just like Dawn's.
And ... I'm a woman!
I keep looking at Dawn's hands and wrist and comparing them to mine, and I can't figure out why her hands and wrist look off ... when both her hands and wrist look like mine. Could it be that we've come to associate the model hands of certain other figures as the way it should be?
Still ... I like Dawn. And I don't see anything about the base figure that changes my opinion that this is the V4/Genesis killer for me. Pretty cool that Poser users get a figure that's even better than the Gs and Vs.
Quote - Dawn's hand is squarer than mine, and her wrist is thicker than mine (in porportion to the hand). The "problem" is that I am a man!! And being a man, am heavily biased towards glamour girls.Dawn's creators need our feedback so, like a good customer -- I am giving them my opinion. The more people they make happy, the more impact they will have on the marketplace. I'll accept their final design, but we do need to give them our opinions.

If Dawn comes with the same MorphForm morphs as V4 (where you can scale the hands, feet, legs, head, and chest), you could just as easily size the hands and feet up a bit. I actually do that a lot with my characters as I like to add a bit of "I'm not quite human, you know" look to them.
Quote - LOL! That's alright then. It looks as though Dawn has been created with "Renderosity-user" hand proportions :)
Too small for me to like them though. On hands and feet she's definitely not good enough out-of-the box for me. But hey, maybe Blackhearted will come along and save her? ;)

Sigh. I love her joints. They are going to be a joy to pose.
Quote - Another wip preview, using one of my Down poses, or in this case, Dawn Down poses.
Ill probably post more wips tomorrow.

I am SO happy you are supporting Dawn! I've missed being able to buy your cool morphs.
It's a good thing I got 10 months of retro pay in June. It all went into savings. Well, after fed, state, and phila taxes. Since it was a combined paycheck/retro pay, that tax hit was as massive as Hulkish.

I read this and thought. Oh, tomorrow! That's so cool.
It wasn't until I read the comments on Facebook that I realized it's AUGUST 9, not July 9.
What can I say. I spell July, A U G U S T.
Quote - Okay cupcakes, we got a release date! From Hivewire's Facebook page:
"On August 9, 2013, Dawn will be released to the public at www.hivewire3d.com, with supporting content for Dawn released simultaneously in the marketplaces at Poser World, Renderosity, RuntimeDNA, and YURdigital."

Yes, Kate Upton does that to me too.
Quote - > Quote - I sometimes wonder what it would be like if humans had that pattern. Imagine a world where Kate Upton can't get anyone to look at her, while males of all ages flock around Hillary Clinton.
I think I just threw up a little bit in my mouth.

That it does! I really, really, REALLY have tried to keep from getting too excited over Dawn. But, I have failed dismally. I'm absolutely positive Dawn will be my go to figure once she's released.

Exactly. Some people love recreating real people and objects, others prefer to create what ifs.
Personally, I prefer creating what ifs. I don't recreate a specific person, but create one that is representative of the people around me or in paintings/photos/film/tv or what I imagine a fantasy/otherworldly figure to look like.
Hivewire never stated that Dawn is a recreation of a specific real person. What was said ... Would you want this figure to be accurate to true human form and proportions, robust in its ability for being morphed and transformed into an endless number of characters and creatures, contain the latest in weight-map rigging technology, and have highly realistic joint bending and mesh smoothing?
Accurate to true human form and proportions means "realistic" what ifs to me, not a barbie doll, but not a copy of a real person either.
Highly realistic joint bending means her joints don't crumple when she's posed in extreme and not so extreme poses.
My problem is when people (who want my money) insist their idealized/sexualized version of a female is what I should aspire to look like. And if I have to spend thousands upon thousands of dollars for surgeries and diets and products to mask imperfections (even at the expense of my health) to get there ... all the better.
We're artists, damn it, not scientists (mad or otherwise)
Quote - Well, maybe art isn't so much realistic in the "real" sense. Maybe more creativitly, creating worlds that don't exist, and maybe even a little escapism ;).
