I didn't see it asked here, but did you try to reformat the card in the camera?

Most studies have shown a CD will last 2-10 years before failure, and a consumer burned DVD to last about the same time.  The key to maximizing their lifespan is to keep them in a dark place with low humidity.  I have had CDs fail after 4 years.  Brand didn't make much difference.

Disregard the 75-300 year claims of lifespans.  Whoever came up with that is smoking really good dope.

I wont be posting anything to renderosity in the future until I am satisfied that Renderosity has done something about this....in fact I am thinking of deleting all my work [which has only ever been posted here]

Do you mean to tell me that the idea of somebody jacking your artwork never occurred to you?  It happens all the time; it's the Internet.  What did you think would happen if somebody right-clicks on your work and does a "save as"?  Did you think Rendo would send 50,000 volts through their chairs?

Rendo has placed copyright notices all over this site.  That will NOT keep somebody from ripping your work.  As a matter of fact, I have seen Rendo members rip work from others and post it here as their own.

Son, you really need to give this a rest.

It seems like I post this recommendation often, but I'll do it again.  I highly recommend Bryan Peterson's excellent book called, "Understanding Exposure: How to Shoot Great Photographs with a Film or Digital Camera (Updated Edition)".  It's easy to understand, and is almost certain to reward you with better photography via creative use of the features of your camera...which you paid handsomely for.

Since acquiring this book, I shoot in full manual or aperture modes 90% of the time.  Truly, exposure is what it's all about.  If one can't grasp the concept of light, exposure, focal length and Depth of Field, then one certainly can't progress into a better photographer.  Learn to trust your camera's meter!

'P' mode should be outlawed :)

Well, yes and no.  I'm no longer going to participate in the photography gallery here as I have very little time anymore to either post or comment because of my work schedule and other areas of my life that require so much time these days.  And admittedly, I've lost interest in posting to the galleries.  Because of this, I felt it best to delete my gallery, homepage, etc. and sort of fade to black - lol :)

I'll ocasionally lurk the photography forum and participate there when I can, but for the most part, little ol' Rendo is going to go on the back burner for the forseeable future, and that forseeable future looks to be about 18 months out at least.

Well, to some people I suppose it's important.  Admittedly, I've added ratings to images, but only if I feel they are outstanding.  But I feel that for many, it's not so much for the image they've uploaded as it is for them.  And that's OK, whatever floats your boat.

But I think the best ratings come in honest written form, rather than from a drop down.

IMHO, I think the rating system is more widely used as a barometer of member popularity here than judging any technical merit of an uploaded image.  I've seen images with 27 5-star ratings that are absolute crap.  It seems that the amount of 5-star ratings you get is in direct proportion to how many favorite artists are in your list.  I always leave mine off (unless I forget), I have no ego to feed.
