So I just realized I'd posted a few times under an older account I don't intend to use anymore. Whoops. Couldn't figure out why my avatar wasn't showing up and then realized the name wasn't right.
Sorry for any possible confusion with the different account names.
Need to close down that account somehow or something.

Yeah I've seen discussion and mention of scripts in Poser. I'll have to give them a gander... once I can actually buy it. -sigh- lol.
Oh, one other thing I'm wondering but couldn't find an answer to.... Does something like DAZ Dragon 3 work in Poser? I haven't seen anything similar specifically made for Poser, and I'd like to have a dragon available for some work.
Thanks!

Actually, Poser comes with several animal figures and poses in Legacy Content. It also includes the relatively new Hivewire Horse and Gorilla.
My other suggestion to you is to make sure you look into the scripts that come with Poser. I've had Poser for over 20 years, so I've gotten rather set in my ways. Still, many of the scripts that come included are extremely useful. Be sure to look under the Scripts Menu.

Piggy-backing off my own question, in the Marketplace, when I'm looking for models/assets.. Items indicated as for Poser 10 / 2014, or 9, etc... are those also compatible with Poser 11? Would they work "as-is", or has there been any format changes that would require some finegling, etc? Just want to make sure I don't buy stuff I can't actually use.
Thanks

A few scripts you might find useful are Ezdome and ezskin3 available here http://www.snarlygribbly.org/poser/?LMCL=dvj5a1
Thanks! I'll have to take a look into those. Looks like there's a bunch of tools on that page. A couple others jumped out at me, too.

That's some solid advice for sure.
I find there's usually at least a couple tools or addons that come highly recommended with a program, so thought I'd ask what those were for Poser.
Thanks :)

I'd get used to the content that comes with Poser before I bought anything else. That way you'd see what you have, and be able to figure out what you need easier.

That's a good point, regarding what genres, etc.
Generally I'm into Fantasy, Sci-Fi and Horror. Mostly Fantasy at this point, for a story I'm intending to tell using Poser. I'm also interested in (eventually) creating my own props and such in Blender to use.. maybe sell them on the market, but that's getting ahead of myself heh.
Some animals would be good to have. I'll have to look through the marketplace a bit.
Thanks!

For training I'd start with the latest videos from renderosity on you tube.

Once you get started with the free content then you will probably get to the stage of deciding you need a specific item to complete a scene the way you want, then people here will be able to come up with specific suggestions.
Do you have a favourite genre or know what type of renders you are hoping to create, portraits, outdoors scenes, crowded indoor scenes? Poser is so versatile it's difficult to give general ideas
Thread: Luxus for Carrara, and Figure question... | Forum: Carrara
Hi, Misty.
Thanks for the info.
Do you use V5 in your Carrara work? Or do you use other figures?
I've looked into Octane and heard some good stuff about it. Sadly, it's a bit steep for my budget. I have seen some base skin shaders for Victoria 4.. I think on CarraraCafe. I could work with those for the time being, 'til I can learn how to make a proper one for V5 or V6, etc.
Thanks again!

I'm a gaming geek, CG "dabbler", and drummer. Mostly a drummer, though CG is threatening to overtake the #1 spot the way things are going lately.

Ahhh okay. I'll double check tht next time I'm in Poser, but that would make sense.
Thanks!

Indeed, very helpful :)
Everyone in this thread has helped out a ton. So thanks!
Poser's a pretty interesting and deep piece of software. I remember seeing it around forever, but never thought to look into it. I thought it was just basically a simple virtual mannequin type program. Had no idea how extensive it was.
Quite a bit to learn, but I really like the way Poser is laid out. Things seem organized more to my way of thinking/organizing. DS is fun to work with, but it gets a bit overwhelming sometimes trying to remember what is found in what tab, in what folder under what category, on what part of the screen, etc. It's not an "A is better than B" thing. Just Poser clicks better for me.
Eager to get access to more of the available content, so I can start really working on stuff. Feeling a bit limited with the content provided with the free trial :p

Also, if you look under departments on the product page you will see all dynamic clothing should be in 3D Figure Assets: Dynamics for Poser if it is for Poser.
3D Figure Assets • Clothing 3D Figure Assets • Dynamics for Poser La Femme Pro - Female Poser Figure
Hope this is helpful.

Hey thank you for that infographic! That'll be very helpful.
I did a couple quick tests with the cloth room, and it's really not that intimidating. Just some key steps to remember. I'm sure I'll find a use for each type of clothing as I go.
Thanks again!

You can also have a look at the readme if you are not sure if a clothing item is a prop (dynamic - cloth room) or conforming.
You can find the readme on the product site:
If you see items with the ".pp2" in the readme - those are dynamic clothes or props (shoes / jewellery or something like that)
If you see items with the ".cr2" in the readme - those are conforming clothes

Most of the clothes that need the cloth room, will say dynamic or something about the cloth room. If it doesn't, it most likely is conforming. Most of the clothes are conforming.
Okay cool.
Thanks a bunch :)
I'm back on track to pick this up.
Thread: Clothes won't conform? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for that information. I wasn't aware of the two different types of clothing.
Okay, so for quick one-off pose setups, use Conforming items, under the "Figures" tab. For something that I might want to have animate, or otherwise better fit to a pose "dynamically", use the items under "Props"
Is that correct?
Going further... I'm looking through the marketplace, and except for a couple cases where the creator specifically indicates it's for the cloth room, I can't see any way to know which type a given clothing item is.
For example.. this item specifically states in the Description that it's only for use in the cloth room... https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/trixi-dress-and-14-styles-for-la-femme/140248/
But other items don't.
How do you tell the difference before buying something?
Thanks again.
