1) Somebody quit the site, and the site automatically deletes all threads started by them :
no it doesn't work like that. Messages are left here... like memories...
2) Somebody got pissed at Renderosity, and deleted every message belonging to a thread they started (not real likely) :
yep, quite unlikely... but I already saw this. A member carefully deleting all his messages and answers. Cleaning before leaving, I guess...
3) The moderators got pissed at somebody, and etc. etc.
no sir. We don't delete messages just for fun. A message will be deleted only if it's against our TOS (asking for illegal stuff, including porn images, etc...)
4) gremlins
well... we have a few of them here. But they are (I hope) under control.
5) The person deleted his/her own message because he/she decided, for any number of reasons, that he/she didn't want it posted.
Dialyn got it right !

60 frames in 13 minutes is really fast ! that's 13s per frame... Consider yourself lucky, other rendering engines could never do this.
Your PC is definitely in good condition !

Thread: You know? the more I think of this (repost from PoserPros) | Forum: Community Center
pinguisto you are missing something :
"the poser stuff, even at default, kicks the unholy dogshit out of the vast majority of stuff put together in the bigger programs, like Maya, 3DS, and Lightwave"
The DAZ characters were created in Lightwave ! Without the "bigger programs" your Poser workspace would be empty...

Thread: Vue 4.12 | Forum: Vue
I'll get it... (to e-on : next time no more VUE 4.xx but a shiny new VUE 5 ! please !).
deadhead : Expression Tool's "SHADE R5" is a high-end japanese modeling / animation / rendering software. I tested it last year, and I have to say that it was very difficult to use... but some features are really cool, like the very fast hybrid rendering engine (scan-line, ray-tracing and radiosity), the metamesh (some sort of advanced metaballs), the magical sketch (2D to 3D), the particle effector, etc...

Hi ShadowWind !it's a polygon normals problem : VUE's "double-sided" polygon mesh option is not working as it should. If the camera is inside an object with the polygon normals facing outward you will get this "blue-ish" atmosphere.
See this previous message :

I don't know if it will or if it can be fixed...

Hi !
use a boolean difference to create a square hole in the ground plane. The object hierarchy in the world browser should be like this :
Difference
infinite plane
cube

Thread: That free XFrog on Digit mag | Forum: Vue
Hi Mike,
I'm sorry that you bought the magazine only to see that export to 3ds or obj formats is "greyed out". Please accept my apologies. I had wrong information about this free release of Xfrog, so my annoucement was inaccurate.
We had so many "true" free softwares in magazines lately (Poser 3, Vue 2, Amapi 4, Truespace 1, Cinema 4D 5, etc...), that I never suspected that this version of Xfrog didn't include export to "polygon" formats.
Pete, the plugin system is not "odd" at all. It allows the host software to recognize directly the Xfrog format instead of using the awful obj/3ds/dxf import formats. It's the most efficient way of using 2 softwares (VUE 4 recognize the pz3 format with this system). Files are small and imported "intact" in the host application. Xfrog procedural models have an approximate size of 5 to 15 Kb, so the resulting size is not "too big"...

Thread: greenworks XFROG free in DIGIT mag ! | Forum: Vue
Pete :
:) there's always a catch... this is a limited version without all the modeling / animation tools that you can find in the latest Xfrog. But it's nevertheless a complete software (no 30 days limit).
jstro :
Xfrog is quite easy to use... It's a modular procedural software : the plants are made of an hierarchy of elements (root, tree, leaves, etc...). There is actually no modeling involved.
