Well use of Auto is part of the learning process as you can then see what the camera has selected and then have an idea where to start changing when going manual, esp if you don't know what a F stop is and doing wedding photography!
Sharper images are not always the thing for portraits, when it is often the softer look that hides the wrinkles..

Thread: R1900 PROFILES | Forum: Photography
As with Epson's previous printers, the R1900 provides built-in profiles for all of the company's papers. However, the driver doesn’t provide any way for installing new profiles, which can be frustrating if there’s a third-party paper that you really want to print on. Also annoying: The driver doesn’t automatically deactivate its own colour engine if you choose to have your host application manage colour. This is just one more setting you can forget to change that would then ruin a piece of potentially expensive paper.

Thread: Is anyone using Lightroom 3 BETA? | Forum: Photography
I will be reviewing the full version as soon as it is released but from the first impressions the image quality looks better with better tonal graduations and a lot of changes to the user interface like single panels other than that at this stage would not say it was worth a full update over ver 2.6

Thread: Buy Photoshop now, or white to cs5? | Forum: Photoshop
I cant say I agree with you that CS4 does not work well in 64 bit! And in any case you can run it in 32bit from the same install disks.. Many filters do not work in 64 bit but this is improving and hardly the fault of Adobe.. But if you plan to use it to restore old photographs etc wait ubtil CS5 as the new healing tools are amazing , and in terms of workflow this will save you hours in post production work that if you are being paid has to be worth it..

Thread: Photoshop CS5 some exciting new possibilities on the way | Forum: Photography
I run Photoshop CS3 on a laptop XP pro 32 bit not that high a spec with 2meg of Ram and CS4 on an Intel i7 940 Machine with oodles of triple Ram The software is Ram intensive in both CPU and graphic card needs and works superb in 64 bit But most half decent machines should be fine as long as there is enough ram.. The new healing tool blows me away!
Yeah the first link the guys voice is very annoying!

Often while traveling with a camera we arrive just as the sun slips over the horizon of a moment, too late to expose film, only time enough to expose our hearts. ~Minor White
