Thread: Harryhausen | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the cyclops suggestions guys, but I'm looking for a version of Ray Harryhausen's cyclops, I'm trying to give a nod to him in my film...if not his cyclops one of his other creations.

Thread: Render Animation Error | Forum: Vue
Personally I would never ever render any animation to anything other than image files, then compile image files into whatever format you need. You can see each frame and can tell if something is going wrong or stop and switch objects around sometimes without having to start the animation over. If you run out of space you can switch everything over to a new drive or directory and start from the point you left off.

Right now I am using the video copilot method and while it is acceptable, it isn't great. These tend to give it a more cartoon look even while using real satellite imagery.

well it looks good except when I get too close to the surface...I need to crash into a lake, but when I get too close looks like crappola

I must be dumb but can't find the tutorial at geekatplay and the tutorials that come with vue arn't "the earth" but a simular looking planet. Maybe someoen can point out where I'm wrong or give me a link?

I was thinking that one way to do it is that I render out image sequences, so I just make a copy of the scene but with harsh lighting and render out two or three frames every once in a while in the timeline and then replace the original images with those.
Right now I'm rendering a 15 day render and am on my 11th day so I won't have a chance to test out your solution but I'll give that a shot when I can.

Forester,
Yeah I did see that pack and maybe I should give it a try. The scene is a quick shot (5 sec?)Â looking down at a small building at night with trees blowing, not a direct overhead shot but at a slight angle. I wanted the rain to match that POV and then just quick flashes of light that light the scene up. I don't need the splashing. I was thinking of trying it in post with After Effects and trapcode but I don't know. Any ideas or objects would be welcome

Let me clarify a bit, I know about the cylinder method but I need rain from an angle looking more downwards so it would really have to be acutally populated in the 3d space not just an illusion from a rotating cylinder

Silverblade,
Thanks for your tutorial and I will do that next time...I'm too far into this one to start over. It's basically a river/forest scene for my movie...lots of trees and reflections.
I started with this for the base:

his user settings at the resolution i needed would have put it at over 900 hours. I took it down to the lowest usable preset and probably could have reduced it further. Adding motion blur etc in post.
Maybe it's my animations and objects that are adding to the time as I didn't try rendering his animation alone and see the times.

I thought they couldn't do that...I guess I need to find out more about that. I guess I would provide them the pz3 and the obj and the vue file?
