Oh, wow, I didn't have time to reply this morning and next I know you have it done already! You rock :):) Took me a bit to figure out where it was saving things (nowhere, I'm on windows and it turns out, until I changed it to C:tmp, the //tmp/ format doesn't work like it does elsewhere) and how to get it to stop before frame 250, but I've got it now. Thanks!
I was actually looking to have the camera rotate around the center of the scene (where the cursor is) because the thing being rendered may have multiple parts. As is is fine, it's faster to join things anyway rather than importing them all piecemeal from other files like I was, but I'm curious. It looks like rotX is the local rotation property, so if I wanted to rotate around a point I'd have to create my own rotate function that did the math.
Edit: actually, though, some sort of dummy object to parent it to may do....
Thread: easy animation Max vs Blender vs Modo | Forum: Blender
I don't know about Modo, but I think Max has a free trial download too, so you can compare the two. The best thing to do if you want to know which program is easier is probably just to try them and see what works for you.

I had that on Vista when it first came out. All of the menus did that too. The solution was to get a new video card that actually had Vista drivers, but if it's a brand new computer then the manufacturer probably has them or will release them.
Thread: anyone notice blender.org hardly every up for any amount of time? | Forum: Blender
I don't visit the site very often, but it's always up for me. Could some sort of firewall or other filter be in the way?

Man, I totally forgot about this project, I found it again while filing old emails. Thanks for the help, guys, I'll have to play with it again :)

Hmm, I think I've stopped getting emails for forum replies. I haven't heard, but I'll ask again :)
Thread: Snail Shell tutorial | Forum: Blender
I don't know a tutorial that will help you with snail shells, but have you tried playing with the spin and screw tools?
Thread: Bevel script | Forum: Blender
Quote - > Quote - There is a "Bevel Center" python script that lets you select just the edges you want. If you go through the regular blender menu you have to bevel the whole thing.
Umm, what?
Just select the edges you want to bevel, hit [W] and [Bevel] away. I use it all the time... works like a charm. Although I kinda miss the "recursive" function of the "bevel center" script. Would be handy from time to time.
Hmm, perhaps that changed recently. It used to do the entire mesh, no matter what you had selected. I just always use Bevel Center, but sometimes it can be buggy, especially with a lot of recursion.

I think it might actually be legal to sell GPL software, but I'm pretty sure he didn't get permission to use many of those images, and some of them definitely weren't made in blender (I see Riven and a Final Fantasy X character in there) If someone wanted to get this site taken down, contacting the artists, and in particular the major studios, might be a good way to go about it.
Thread: MXM texture help needed! | Forum: Blender
You probably need Maxwell to use those files. (BTW, Maxwell is a renderer that works with many 3d programs. I believe the rendering algorithm used by Indigo is the same (Metropolis Light Transfer)). Check out http://blenderartists.org/forum/archive/index.php/t-82945.html
If you don't have Maxwell, you might look for similar standalone renderers (Indigo, Kerkythea?) that may be able to read that file format. I believe the information those renderers need is quite different for what Blender needs for the internal renderer, though, so it would need to be translated into something Blender understands (phong, blinn, etc.), at which point it's not really the same material and you may be better off with a blender material library.

Coords have file lockers for such purposes, too. If you send it to me I can put it in there.
