This is the ful lpicture where you can see where the stones have come from, in the end I rpaired the scene by deleting the eco layer and re-rendering the ivy , a solution but hardly the best one

Hmm thats ok now dont know why just done one with 19 layers total file is 1121M but its ok dont know why , thanks for the help guys

working document was only 934 M so not really that big having got plenty of RAM that should be fine sorry cant see wher to find the auto select for layers , just trying a new image now , ill see how this one goes

I would be surprised if its a memory limit as I have 32 GB system Ram and my graphics card has 6Gb of  Ram maybe theres a setting to adjust how many layers are shown , a bit like setting the undo levels , but I cant find it and googling the question tells you all about using layers what they do etc but not the bit I want to know

the new update for vue 2014 fixes the problem with keeping the theme you set after exiting the program

I see now you can buy the trees as a bundle for $200 , I think i will only get those i need !

anybody know anything about being able to set the vue theme and keep it set???

yes I think they must have been part of xstream i have found I can save them as vobs and then use them , but more p****d about the large number of other trees bought that require those that came with xstream to work cant even seem to see you can buy a pack so that they could all be bought as one seems a bit harsh to me considering how much ive spent there

The render cow is slower than my new pc , but its still a 2.2ghz core i7 quad core cpu with hyperthreading and 16GB RAM

I agree with your comments on vue regular saves are the way to go ,I have a system by which first save is scene name 1 then small changes will be scene 1a 1b 1c etcthen big changes become scene 2 then 2a 2b 2c etc that way I can always go back only a small step rather than having to redo loads . since having the new system vue has not crashed on me yet (touch wood). one thing I have discovered which I was un aware of , i have a gamers keyboard with a small display that amongs other things show cpu usage and RAM usage it would appear vue holds on to the ram more and more as time goes by , the picture Im about to put in the gallery used 17% of my 32GB of RAM when everything was in the scene , eventually after multiple test renders but only changing atmosphere and moving the dinos RAM usage went up to 71% Exiting VUE before the final render put the used RAM back to 17%

• performance in vue is outstanding compared to my previous machine titan graphics card is reconized by vue and works perfectly .allthough vue dosnt use it for rendering
• I prefercore I7 cpu (haswell) as i remember seeing on the net some test comparing I7 to xeon with I7 being faster and a lot cheaper sorry dont have the link  hope this is of some use to you.
