Actually, Cheryle's forum looks very promising. At least as good as this one software-wise, and much better than the yahoo one. 'Rosity should pay her for taking care of their "trouble-makers."

I don't know of a "real life" place where you'll find people from as many physical locations (world wide,) of as many different political and religious beliefs, and that you can visit 24/7.

But, I suspect that it's also at least partially because of a smaller crowd this time. I wasn't around in the C&D daze, and honestly can't tell you how many posted and/or lurked in the OT forum, but that forum was busier than many of them here.

That's another important thing about "attacks:" They are communications, therefore subject to the target's interpretation as well as the sender's intent. For example, "Renderosity's willingness to hire the mentally handicapped plays a major role in their operations" could be interpreted as a compliment by some, or an insult by others.

Yup, show the problem with the behavior, not the person. Eg. "Renderosity is run by idiots" is not acceptable. "When Renderosity takes away the privilege of many because of the actions of a few, it results in animosity and loss of revenue" is acceptable (and accurate.)

That's true, but closing it with no good reason pisses off a lot of folks, while valid, honest reasons might win some folks back. Contrary to how the mods often treat the members, most of us are intelligent, reasonable adults.

Also, if people didn't like that forum, no one said they had to go there. I have no interest in the comics forum, so I don't go there. That doesn't mean I'd like to see it gone.

Closing the forum was a decision by the site owners, and well within their rights. Whether or not it was due to (non)religios threads, political threads, cat threads, or whatever, doesn't matter. What should matter is taking something from an entire group of folks because of the actions of a few. Some people drive drunk, should the government ban booze? Some people commit murder, should the government ban firearms? Some Muslims are terrorists, should the world exterminate Muslims? Some dogs attack people, should we ban dogs? (Only an idiot would answer "yes" to any of these questions.)
