i'm not an indoor expert but if you leave the sun outside , try to make it come through a window or door(or remove the roof if you dont need it) i do it the stupid way, i put the sun inside to play with the scene and after i'm happy with the scene, i put the sun back outside and play with spots or point lights. the "waiting room" scene that comes with vue 3 seems to use tons of point lights.(but it is a complicated one)so i would put a point light inside and play with the luminosity of it. good luck jp

i had the problem the other day and when i tried again the tutorial on distant planets from the user manual, it seemed to me everything is coming from the athmosphere you choose. your is probably too cloudy, thats why you dont see your sphere. it seems that at a certain distance ,the object stops receiving the light from the sun.this distance is much shorter with the moon. you could play with the size of your sphere and make it closer.then add a plane between your camera and the sphere and texture it with clouds. hope this helps. jp
