Vendors make what they enjoy making AND what they think will sell. People buy what they like. I'm thrilled that there are so many sick, twisted, perverted, vile, warped, weird and just plain messed up folks out there as normal is boring. Suck it up and get over it.
Thread: Daz3D forum caution when discussing IRay documentation. | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Hi Paolo and thanks for the offer but it's no longer needed. I just re-installed Reality/Luxrender this morning at the insistence of someone in another forum (where all us pervs hang out). It's now going well thanks. I'm guessing that all the Daz 4.8 beta versions I had installed along with 4.7 and two versions of Poser got things somewhat messed up.
I do have one question, the mesh lights open with rotation. I have to straighten (zero) them first then move them to where I want. I'd like you to fix this and have them open up at 0,0,0 with no rotation......unless I'm the only one mentioning this, then you're welcome to tell me to suck it up and live with it. :-)

I think we may have found the problem. You need to upgrade your cat! lol
But she's so cute and cuddly and keeps the mouse and snake population in check.

No apologies needed Paolo.
Daz never had decent documentation but users could stumble through and figure it out, however, I feel that the software's sophistication has grown to the point where this has become too burdensome. Developers can't expect folks to just pound buttons and eventually learn it, even if it is free.
I bought Reality4 but it's not been the most stable for me in either Poser or Daz. I eagerly dived into IRay with all four paws but smacked headlong into the bottom of the pool. Most of the settings/dials/buttons/gauges/switches/levers and other controls are arcane and seriously unintuitive. Many didn't do anything that I could tell and others where wildly responsive. I chucked it after a week of wasting time and went back to Reality. Even if it crashes/locks-up/goes away every three renders, I'm still much further ahead than staring at IRay and asking my cat for suggestions.

I gotta vote for Blender too. I used it at home for years and proposed it to the bosses where I work as a replacement for 3DSMax.
We trialed it for several months, found that it did everything we wanted and created a path to our desired output. We let our subscription
lapse and I got the pleasure of telling Autodesk to eff off.

That DSON format guide is something I've not seen before, thanks for the link.
When I bought Reality4, the thirty bucks included a comprehensive manual that explained the function of everything. The IRay renderer in Daz's spanking new 4.8 release is causing some grief as folks are left to stumble through it on their own.
It would be nice to mash both programs together, using the best from each. I used Poser for a few years and made some of my own content but recently went back to Daz. The folks at the leading Blender forum keep talking dirty about making a plug-in that would allow Blender to use Poser/Daz content natively and in the same manner. That would be brilliant.

There are a number of reasons to try Poser's competition, which I've been too set in my ways to explore. I'll have to at least give it a good workout before purchasing the next version of Poser.
Daz is brilliant but has one huge and massive flaw...there's no documentation. The wiki is years out of date and vastly incomplete. They have no tutorials worth watching and requests for some are met with simply "look in the forums."
Thread: [Library] Free 40k+ Quality 3D Models (Updating) | Forum: Freestuff
These types of 'free' sites are over the place. They are usually based in some sleazy country with lax laws and offer all manner of files stolen from commercial distributors like Turbosquid and Archexteriors/interiors. I'm not sure what the business model is but this site is clearly offering stolen stuff. I opened a few files and found many of the internal names to be in an Asian font, a clear indicator that the file had been doctored by a 3d farm in China somewhere. The only place you'll find free 3D files of this caliber is in the Blender community.

aloud on my forum
uuuuhhh....this isn't your forum. This is a public forum and folks can post whatever they like as long it's within the framework of allowed images as defined by the forum rules. By being so adamant about what you want to see you're really just asking for it. I know I'm not the only one who takes a childish and immature delight in pushing peoples buttons.

don't post a picture that contains with nude, I hate seeing those. It irritates me. And no full body of a woman.
There must be a leg fetish site we can direct him/her to. This is kind of messed up and creepy.

We all left Daz because of this and came here.
'We' did? I still use Daz3D with both Vicky Four and Genesis Two. Before you make sweeping, all inclusive statements you'd better have some numbers to back them up. Daz is still the same vibrant and active spot it's always been with lots of support for both figures from the content creators.

1 suggestion - sitemail the vendors that you are not purchasing from and tell them why. They are in a better position to put pressure on the "management" than the customers. They are the ones that actually supply the site content.
I've been doing this for a while now.
Thread: WacomTablet | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't remember a time when I didn't have a Wacom tablet. I use Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Blender and Poser both professionally at work and for all manner of sick, twisted, perverted and just plain messed-up stuff at home. A couple of years ago I added a 3D mouse from 3Dconnexion to my toolbox. A tablet takes some getting used to and I won't comment on whether or not it's faster but it's sure a hell of a lot more comfortable if you spend the best part of your day on a computer pushing pixels around the screens.

Rather than bitch and whine about it, vote with your wallet and presence. I stopped buying stuff here some time ago. Many vendors sell through other brokers. If not, I'll ask them if they'll sell the item privately or I do without it. I don't take part in any forums anymore other than the occasional post along these lines. If everyone moved en masse to RDNA and stopped buying here, Renderosity would quickly go under and good riddance.
Thread: Poser FAQ: Want to contribute? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Why are customers being asked to do the job that the company should be doing? If this was free software I could see it, but when I pay for the product I expect the developers to cough up a comprehensive manual. Sounds like another cheap and sleazy marketing strategy to save a few lousy bucks and pad the wallets of the senior executives.
