Love the Star Destroyer, and all the models for that matter. Did you think about building the Blockade Runner and animate the opening sequence from the first (third) movie? Good luck finishing whatever animation you work on. Wishing you a long and healthy life so you can finish the project! memaci

Wonderful work. Congratulations Shishido. Good job Claudiomil and rsvit's. I find organic shapes very difficult to make convincingly - I am amazed by all the entries. memaci
Thread: render artifcats in spline modeler | Forum: Carrara
I really don't have a solution to your problem, but did you think about making the nose cone in the spline modeller without using the torus function. I believe a symmetrical profile would give you the same effect off a circular base. Just a thought, not certain what your end goals is. memaci

No problem. I learned the tip here in this forum a while back and I'm glad I can pass the info along. Good luck with your animation. memaci

Thread: New learning link up. Writeup on Shadows | Forum: Carrara
Very informative, lots of content to absorb, thanks for the effort and research. I tend to use soft shadows frequently in my renders and am always disturbed by the feathering at the contact point between an object and the plane it is casting the shadow on. I also am not quite certain what the function of the "Bias" slider is in the soft shadows menu. Again thanks for the work. memaci

Thread: Lost textures...gray | Forum: Carrara
The only time I have lost a texture is when I copied and pasted a model into the assemble room. You should save your models in the objects tray to avoid this. Then you will be able to drop them in any scene with shaders intact. memaci

Thanks for the clarification on the image, thought you were trying to animate a Sir Mix-a-lot song. I've had the same problem with the "duplicate with symmetry" command but have chose to ignore it because the renders work okay. It does make it difficult to model in the assembly room at times. memaci
Thread: Newbie frustrations: freezes and other problems | Forum: Carrara
I still use C1.1 and run it on a Mac G3. The only problem that seems to happen to me frequently is when I jump to the modeling room. The program boots me out of Carrara and back to the desktop. This seems to happen more frequently the longer I am working on a particualr model. It's a nuisance but if I save before the modeling room it does little damage other than irritating me. I don't understand how you are using the "atmosphere wind" to apply a vertical take off for a rocket. Are you lowering the ground level? I'm not sure that animates. You can have the rocket lift off simply by moving it through the 3-D space along the time line. Have the camera point at the rocket and your done. Two of the particle settings I have used for rocket blasts are big bonfire and smoke, with very little tweaks. Just add a glow to the texture channel and whatever other colors you want and it seems to work great. You will have to coordinate this with your timeline so the fire erupts when you need it to. Just remember to invert the cone of the particle generator or you will fry your rocket. I think Carrara can do all the things you want it to do but there is a bit of a learning curve, especially animation. Good luck. memaci
