No, Spreading a virus is a crime. You know that. As I said in anothe post, I think in this same thread, the computer you're infecting and the person you're allerting the FBI to may be someone else who is working on piracy prevention. Or a student could do this at a school, and the school pays the price, not the student. Self-defense is tracking down the IP addresses of offenders and reporting them. What you suggest is merely striking out blindly. Bored now. On to another topic for me. Phoenix

Thread: **** NOTICE **** geep's "Scale" prop sizes are NOT CORRECT!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
CL should have adapted their new version of Poser to the universally accepted Dr. Geep scale. I'm shocked and dismayed about the oversight. ;) Phoenix

I won't say you're NEVER annoying, Anton, because I've never had lunch with you and maybe you chew with your mouth open or put ketchup on your salad, but you're never annoying around here. :) Phoenix
Thread: Work around for the slow P5 interface. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've got to agree, the lack of an OS-specific UI is a real disappointment, and is causing a lot of problems and driving up the system requirements. Did you notice that Poser has to parse through over 17 megs of Photoshop files every time it displays a screen? That can't happen too quickly. And 17 megs is their size on disk; they are bigger when read. Those PSD files even contain many many layers of images marked "oldunused". I understood the non-standard interface when the program was shipping with Mac and Windows versions on 1 CD, but I really thought we'd get more standard UIs this time since the versions were being developed separately and supposedly re-written from the ground up. Oh, well. I love P5. I hate P5. :) Phoenix
Thread: So are the days of transmaps finally numbered? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Mac, Don't know what you mean. Transmaps are still just as useful as they were before. You can make a filmy looking material without them, but if you want lace, you'll still need them. For hair, I think you're right that a combo of the old hair and the new will probably give the best final results. haven't tried anything like it yet, though, because my machine hates the dynamic hair. The good news about transmaps... you'll now be able to copy the transmap into the specularity value slot or the reflection value slot so that transmapped items can now have shininess of reflections without "ghosting" the invisible parts. And probably half a million things I haven't thought of yet. :) So you'll still need them, but they will be a lot more flexible. Phoenix

Thread: Just a couple more images with Poser 5....still playing | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It's not at all useless! I have a lot of complaints about it... user-friendliness they left out and bugs they left in... but the bug fixes will be coming and despite the lack of perfection the new features are very much worth the price of an upgrade. If you're willing to spend some time learning a new way of setting up textures and hair and cloth, it's SO worth it. If bugs will make you scream, wait a while longer. Phoenix
Thread: Cloth Room dial settings | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Phil, The Cloth simulation is the same as in the Max plugin Stitch. I was told by someone here (I forget who, sorry) that searching Max bulletin boards would lead me to a cornucopia of settings to represent real-world cloth. The creators of this technology (Size8 Software) might have some of the same. Not being familiar with Max boards, I haven't tried it. :) Phoenix
Thread: Poser 5 error | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The only suggestion I can make for this is try backing up the UI folder (under Runtime) and if you get this sort of error again, try replacing that folder with your backup. The error yo're getting seems to come from the XML parser, and all the XML is in the UI folder. Could be that it's getting corrupted. Worth a shot, can't hurt anything, and beats reinstalling. Thread: Problems with .pz3 files in P5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Left Forearm! The harbinger of doom! Every time it crashes, you get "Left Forearm." I'm ready to hack that arm off all my figures. ;) There's actually a bug in the way P5 saves PZ3s as well. I think I emailed Curious about this, but I couldn't tell if it went through. If you use a texture that is stored outside of Runtime, Poser should store the full path to that texture. Usually it does, but sometimes (and I can't suss out when or why) P5 ignores the path entirely and stores the reference ount as ":texturname.jpg" which means every time you load that PZ3 you'll be prompted for locations. There are more reasons to link to external graphics now that we can easily use tiling textures, so this really needs to be fixed. Phoenix
Thread: Procedural Shaders References? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
We're working on it. Everyone is still learning. Even the folks at CL are still learning, in fact. But they have already started uploading some tutorials at curiouslabs.com, and people here have been sharing the new things they learn. A few kind-hearted folk will be collecting the tips that are posted here for display at a central location. So keep your eyes open It's coming. :) Phoenix
Thread: Free Romantix Cape for Poser 3, 4 & 5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thread: Where are the Don and Judy templates?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Judy uses the Same UV map as Victoria. So do Penny and Will. Don uses the same UV map as Michael. These can be downloaded from DAZ. The only thing different from the DAZ maps is the eyes, which are the same for all 4 characters. So if you've got an eye map from the link above, you've got everything you need. Remember to paint a bit outside the lines. P5 doesn't blur the image a bit like P4 did. Phoenix
Thread: Just an idea to make things easier on us all | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think that the tips and tutorials that are poted here cand be linked from the Poser Forum Resources site (banner above) but I don't know who runs that site, or whethr we have to request that something be submitted. Or if they have time. ;) Phoenix
