Yep Clint, you are bigger. Much bigger. That is one of Renderosity's big selling points, which there is no denying. Thanks for reminding us. :) Server needs depend on much more than number of users, which actually is only an indirect server load. It's those users hitting the software that causes increased server load. And the quality of the software and queries then comes into play. Speaking of queries, seems your database hiccuped this morning and spit out some errors messages to some of the users. One seems particularly disturbing, and maybe you could explain it while you're here: SELECT * FROM Member WHERE UserName='...' AND is_competitor='Y' (The current user's username goes where the '...' is) Is Renderosity now tracking certain users whom it considers "competitors"? Who would these people be? What kind of information are you gathering on these individuals? Just curious. Screenshot here

"Case inconclusive." Indeed. I have a Dell PowerEdge Server under my desk, that I use for web testing purposes. It doesn't have any of those server "differences" but is sold by Dell as a server nonetheless. And it did a great job of serving up PoserPros for it's first few months of life. ;) Takes all kinds, depending on your needs.

Let me add, that the 15% off is in addition to any current sales that might currently be running.

dailyn: "But is it a problem with the moderators?" When the rules are not applied evenly and fairly to all, the problem IS with the moderators/admins. There are folks who can do no wrong here, and there are folks who must walk on eggshells. I'm one of the eggshell folks. ;)

I fully agree with you on the additional savings Chuck. However, there's also the pressure on the consumer to need to save that money, because of the monthly membership. ;) With no membership fee, if you don't see anything you like, then you don't have to buy. No pressure to "save" money by spending money. :D

ShadowWind: " I like RDNA's $2.50 deals better as there is no club to join and pay for and they are lot more generic items for the most part that everyone can use (rather than just the V3/M3 users (though they do some of that too))." ShadowWind, there is also no club to join for PoserPros' ProClub. Currently almost 150 products, all at $2.49. All fully tested for quality just like every other store item.

And how many of those 93% with the default background color can't alter their member profile because they refuse to answer the now required marketing questions? I'm sure I'm not the only one. ;)
Thread: Anton, I know you are here somewhere!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Anton: "See it succeeds through a specific formula and design. Each aspect is crucial. If portions of the formula are removed the whole thing crumbles." One more point ... if your "specific formula" is so crucial, why did DAZ change it this year? Does the whole thing crumble now? ;)

Thanks for the link bijouchat. And you're right. My thinking on "loss leader" was apparently a little off. The "loss" is not necessarily a true loss, but a lower than normal profit margin. Excellent reading! Thanks!

Anton, all the attitude in the world can't make what you say true, just because you believe it. :) In truth, PoserPros does NOT lose money on any single ProClub sale. It's actually not a "loss leader" in any form. It is possible to price items at that level and still make a nickel or dime per sale, as we give the ProClub merchants a 75% cut. As to Platinum Club being more affordable ... in one year's time, you would have to buy 234 Platinum Club items to get their "real" price down to PoserPros' ProClub price of $2.49. That takes into account the $29.95 startup and $7.95 per month cost. Of course, they haven't even released that many products for Platinum Club yet anyway. :) Yep bijouchat, it's just business. :)

Get those carts up here to the register. Just under two hours left from the time of this post, and this sale is history!Thread: Here is the list of artists that made it on the Renderosity DVD | Forum: Community Center
Spike: "Bottom line, if we don't get them all, we can't offer it to anyone..." That's what I was meekly trying to point out in post three before you decided I needed a new bodily oriface. :) Heck, I didn't express an opinion, just quoted you. I never implied you couldn't sell it, just that you needed proper permission. Reread your ranting posts at me in this new light. :) Have a great weekend Spike.

Spike (4/8/03): *"Remember, this DVD will be used only for the promotion of Renderosity and it?s artists at tradeshows and will not be sold or given away in any form."* Spike (6/20/03): *"Not only will we be using this DVD at MacWorld and Siggraph to show off your works, but it looks like we will be offering it back to you the members at cost plus shipping... No biggie. :) Just because I don't understand it, doesn't mean I don't believe you. Just trying to rule down the possible causes. Well ... keep an eye out. Surprise sales happen all the time. :) Sometimes BIG ones. ;)
