Thread: What is the best software to make floor tile textures? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
hmmm it runs ok on mine?i thought maybe there might be a different version out tho so i let it dl the update when it asked to do so,it still runs about the same for me...CPU use flatlines at around 1-2% unless it's "working" it goes to about 50% for a second or two when it "builds an image" i have win2k as well, but on an AMD athlon 1.4ghz with 512 meg ram running at 1024x768..which might account for some differences in speed...but the program itself seems to behave pretty normally on my rig...much better than poser does! anybody else try it? or have problems?

no i don't believe masonry designer has any spyware in it,and you don't have to be online to use it,it does however update itself via the web...to make sure it has all the latest/current acme product i guess[i think once it's installed you can cancel/disable that function tho]. it works great as texture generator but that's not really it's purpose,it's primarily a sales/demo tool for the company's products.it does load a bit slowly and sometimes seems a bit cumbersome even...but hey it's free and it gives great results.

it's not really for floors so much, but i've made some with it...it's free and makes great pretty near photorealistic masonry textures, bricks, stone tiles etc etc.it's actually a "product demonstrator" so uses "real world" masonry products,i'm sure it was never intended as such but it's an awsome freebie for the 3d inclined person...masonry designer http://www.brick.com/md/

Pakled- army of darkness....funny[same guy as did hercules and zena for tv] evil dead 2...has a few funny moments...mostly lighthearted but pretty gross in spots...ash is in it,and he has some great one liners evil dead[the original]........very scary movie!nothing to do with the other two other than that the plot is based on the same idea...i first saw this as a teen...in a cabin while on a school camping trip....don't know who picked the movie...really bad idea tho, nothing like having to walk through the woods back to your cabin after seeing that one!
Thread: monitor settings question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
yup crt monitors darken with age..it's a fact.however if things are getting bad and you can't adjust the monitor itself any brighter, try your advanced display properties, most video cards these days and for quite a while have included a tab to adjust things like color and brightness...so you may be able to crank it up further via the software there. i find the adobe gamma loader software that comes with photoshop a godsend btw...i run two monitors and this is the only way i can get them to look close to the same in regards to color and brightness..if you can get the phospher numbers for your monitor[try the manufacturers website!]so much the better...
Thread: High Color or True Color? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
in some games where the computer is being pushed to it's limits trying to keep a smooth frame rate..reducing to 16bit can make things a tiny bit easier on the system/vid card...likewise some games have a preference for running in 16bit,it can be a workaround for sometimes glitchy software or compatability issues...this is all games tho where "real time" is all important... for graphics/3d/surfing/whatever...crank whatever card you have as high as it'll go..if there is a performance hit working in these areas it'll be small enough that you'll never notice it..and if you do,you have much bigger problems to address and upgrade out of first...there's no sense in paying for a video card or other equipment and then depriving yourself of it's full capabilities[whatever they might be]
Thread: Is there a difference between 3ds and 3dsMax. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
it's merely 3dsmax's own internal format, almost every program has one,it's just like poser's pz3 files.a .max file is a scene file that contains the mesh[s],lights, mats and rendering settings...there's really nothing any more restrictive about it than any other file format. how many progs can open .pz3 files?only poser can actually create or modify them,3dsmax's .max files are the same thing...they are for max only, allthough if the original artist wants to make it accessible to all then they should learn to export to something everyone can use like .3ds mesh files...it ain't the prog or the the file format but the people using it

Thread: free office desk anyone??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
oh for this kinda stuff there are tons available...especially if you have 3dsmax or 3dsviz...do a google search for "idrop" a web plug that comes free with either prog, with it you can drag and drop .max files and mats right from a web page into either app...the beauty of it all,is 3dsviz's use as a design app...many companies that make the real life furniture have virtual clones of thier designs avaialable online for free,so designers can incorporate them into their work.it helps if you have the ability to open max files but many are also available as 3ds...for the motherlode in this type of freebie try here... www.autodrop.net
