Yeah, I know who makes them, just not what they're made of! I seem to remember someone saying that with >obj and >dxf files, one has UV data and one doesn't- things like that. I got out my calcalater'- 15,720,944 bytes divided by 1,024 (bytes per meg = 15,352.484 megs. Urk!

Do you have a link? When I "searched" animatek, all I got were pages saying "Animatek's World Builder..."
Thread: Poser= grey hair= stupid program | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Crossroads! Cool- I'm downloading it right now. I still would love to find something that explains in real-people terms what, for instance, a DXF file is, what a 3DS is, what makes them different, and so-on. Thanks everyone! I was doing a project for freestuff, so if this works, I'll let ya' know! I'm making trees! (Nice, real-looking trees, not phonepoles with leaves.)

...But the memory manager said during processing, it never used more than 20% of the system resources at a time. It took about half an hour, using the same 20% over and over, then it would get to 90% complete, and say "not enough memory". I don't understand- naybe it was trying to ship the file into Poser, THEN it said "that's too big!" Uhrrgh. I don't know!

That's what it said- I looked in the file manager, under properties- file size 15,720,944 bytes. I usually whack off the last three, so I guess that would be roughly 15,000 megs. (Is that right?)

Thank you, everyone! I feel better now. People here are so nice. It had better not be the GeForce! They're supposed to be the best on the consumer market. (It cost like it!) Maybe the file is screwy- I'll try it again- making it that is. Maybe it's the DXF format? Or it might be a teence big- I checked the file size, and it eas just over 15,000 megs. Is that big?
Thread: Now I REALLY feel sorry for Mac users ... MK Scripts ROCKS!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't even really know what an MK Script is- I'd like to though. If you (as an apparently knowledgeable scripter) could bung up a real basic little tutorial for the site, many of us wanna-knows would be grateful!

Here's my reccomendations: 3D Home Architecht Deluxe 3 Not only alot of fun and architechturally-oriented, but the non-pro version is under $25. The models export in .dxf format. http://www.cdromshop.com/cdshop/desc/p.047956302017.html Or, if you want to do it from scratch, get POV and Moray. Very easy to use, and I personally prefer a solids modeler for this sort of project. Plus, POV is free, and Moray is free to try, $60 to register. Also, there are tons of user-made addons and plugins. POV is also one of the best renderers I've seen. http://www.povray.org/ http://www.stmuc.com/moray/

I have a gig of ram , and I never have resource problems. Just for fun once I went nuts and opened PSP, Poser, CorelDraw, POV, Moray, Terragen, and Blender all at once, then did a raytracing- I could'nt even get resources down to half. Your configuration settings have a lot to do with it, too.
Thread: Edo--Too Beautiful not to render Nude | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Isn't that odd? All the nude Victorias get massive attention from the guys. When I see a nude Michael, as opposed to a clothed one, though, I'm thinking "whatever". Don't get me wrong, I love to look at men, but a man's wedding tackle isn't exactly the most graceful thing in the universe. I'd rather a pair of tatty jeans!
Thread: Poser mostly importing :( | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I know. :( It's not good for my blood pressure, either. I can't believe they'd leave out something like that. I'm begginning to think someone needs to send those fine Posercorp folks to Sensible Interface Design 101.

Well, here is my reply to the letter I sent Curious Labs, complaining about the above points. Dear Michelle, Thank you for your interest in Curious Labs products. We are always looking for ways to improve them and your suggestions are extremely valuable to us. I will pass along all suggestions to the technical and production teams. Please let us know if we can be of any assistance to you in the near future. Thank you once again, Julie Why am I not surprised? Do they actually read these things, or is "Julie" an answer-bot?

I think the "square paper leaves" is brilliant! I love it. It reminds me of an ad for printers, or copiers.

Or- did you know... one of the most common mistakes in CG of any sort is the values of the colors are too high. Nature never uses pure colors- only computers. Black and white photographers use a colored filter for increased contrast- this can be done in CG, too. The "rule of thirds"- dividing the view into 9 boxes to help position compositions. (ie horisons are best 1/3 from the top or bottom, but not center.) Cool! (Hey, I impress easily. But like alot of others, I wanna learn, and I love to share!)
