Thanks for the reply.I dont have a good paint app. I was able to get rid of the black background anyway,the main thing was the final colour and texture.The white was showing as I wanted in the materials ed but was quite grey in the render and the colour was very solid like it had been stamped on. Sorry, I dont know how to do screen shots,something else for the to learn how list. Cheers GG.

Welcome fellow newbie I too am totally new to all of this.You could'nt have joined a better community than Renderosity.
The folks here are just awesome.As for learning Bryce, I have found that there are tutorials at lots of sites on different topics so in my case Google gets a damn good workout, but what I do is mainly push,pull and experiment. One thing I will stress is SAVE,SAVE,SAVE,the " revert to last saved " has got me out of the **** many times. You will find that Bryce is like a good relationship,exciting,frustrating and pleasurable.

The theory was that the boat is frozen in pack ice.Perhaps by making the the surface more raised and jagged it would convey that impression better.

just awesome!!!!.I'm really having a great time with bryce and I'm hoping that when I get reasonably proficient at using the program it will be of use with my other art interest which is acrylic paints on canvas.
However after reading some of the posts yesterday re corel and bryce I'm wondering whether I would be better at this stage to learn a different program.
If I can figure out how to send pics you might get to see some of the things I have done.
