As far as I know, the difference in names is not a problem. The hierarchy is the important thing. If the BVH hierarchy start with something like "pelvis", then "back1", then "back2", it will automatically map to "hip", "abdomen" and "chest" in Poser. So you don't have to rename! The BVH will work if its hierarchy structure matches the figure hierarchy structure.

Thread: Dual monitor questions | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A graphics card with two outputs works fine with two CRTs, provided the second output (usually digital) has a digital/analog connector. If you look at the white connector in the image above, you'll see 24 holes arranged in 3 rows, and on the right side 4 holes and a slit. This connector is both digital and analog. With the supplied converter plug you can attach a second CRT.
Most modern display adapters have connectors like that. If the 4 holes around the slit are missing, it's a digital-only connector!
Hope this helps, Steven.

Thread: New Poser book in the works... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
One of the things I'd REALLY like in a book is a good chapter about lighting. Poser has something called "local light", only accessible from Python, but what is it? What can be done with it? How do you get those &@#@$#@$8 shadows right in a more complicated scene?

Thread: INJ problems and REM | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Usually, you need the V3 Body Morph and V3 Face Morph packs for the morph injections to work. That's not just a download, you've got to buy them from DAZ.
If you have them, be sure you haven't moved the !DAZ folder from its original location, it should be :Runtime:libraries:!DAZ
Hope this info helps.

Thread: Script idea for Ockham | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
Another option, set up two ERC channels (best place is in the head) called Eyes Up-Down and Eyes Left-Right. Slave the Up-Down and Left-Right channels of both eyes to the channels in the head, save the CR2 and you're done. No Python or additional props needed, easy to do with CR2Builder, and the feature is built in right into your figure. Beware of crosstalk though.

Thread: Not Sure Where to post this - Making a skirt | Forum: Poser Technical
Skirts is where Poser 5 dynamic cloth is an excellent solution. Almost all the skirts I have are dynamic cloth, and I often convert conforming skirts to dynamic ones. No more twiddling morph dials that just won't do what you want! Alas, that's no solution for P4. Another option is making a skirt containing a hip body part, and then skirt1, skirt2 and so on. Much easier to pose, not so many morphs needed. I've seen skirts built that way, and they work pretty well! The Multi Morph Skirt by (damn, forgot who) is a good example.

Thread: SVDL - De-skate script | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
Another tip: create props called rFoot and lFoot, move them to the balls of the feet of the character and parent them to the feet. Simple boxes or spheres work best. Then you can use the original script without modification on every possible figure!

Thread: The Tailor vs. Clothes Converter | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
As far as I know, Clothes Converter is useful for converting conforming clothes for Vicki2 to Vicki3, for instance. The Tailor is very useful for creating morphs in clothing to match the morphs of the character (I used it to create an ERC version of BillyTs V2 Brassiere). So the products do completely different things.

Thread: SVDL - De-skate script | Forum: Poser Python Scripting
Ah. Simple problem, actually. The new version of the walking script assumes the walking figures have actors with internal names lFoot and rFoot. If no such body part can be found, the script assumes it's not a walking figure. Search for 'ActorByInternalName("lFoot")' and 'ActorByInternalName("rFoot")', replace the 'lFoot' and 'rFoot' with the internal names of the feet of your figure, and you're all set. Be sure to replace the lToe and rToe actor names too, they're also used in the V2 version.

Thread: Does anyone know why I can't export VIctoria 3 to 3ds max? | Forum: Poser Technical
I've exported V3 as an .OBJ and imported the .OBJ into Max, using HABWares free Max plugin (Obj2Max and Max2Obj) No problem whatsoever.

Thread: help needed with poser 5 | Forum: Poser Technical
That's right, that's the default new doc. Don't change the man, get rid of him (Figure -> Delete Figure) and create a new figure (bar on the right, Figures - Poser 5 - single click Judy, single click checkmark to create the new figure. THese are the first basics of Poser. You can find them in the manual (You DO have the manual, don't you?). The Help file also contains the complete manual.

Thread: Poser 4.0.3 bug: my Poser selected a pickaxehandle's hull !?!?!? | Forum: Poser Technical
Well, at least THAT problem does not occur with my installation of Poser 5. When I switch characters using the pulldown, and then use the dials, the correct character moves. FYI, I have Poser 5 SR3, PC version, running on Windows XP with the latest patches.

Thread: Can only render one Mike 3 in an image. | Forum: Poser Technical
Yep, this is a major Firefly problem. Ran into it using 4 V3s, Don plus Posette plus a complex background and lots of light, on a P4 2.8 with 1.5 G of ram and 3 G of VM. It does NOT have to do with available RAM or virtual memory, it also does not have to do with the 2 Gb limit per app. Usually turning down the bucket size to 8 helps, not always. I also try reducing maximum texture map resolution (but not below 1024) and increasing shading rate from 0.5 to 2. Usually I can get it to work that way. I hope SR4 will address this problem.

Thread: Poser 4.0.3 bug: my Poser selected a pickaxehandle's hull !?!?!? | Forum: Poser Technical
I think this has to do with the defaultPick command in a .cr2 If the character that you select does not have a defaultPick (some of them don't) the body part/prop that was selected before will remain "selected". If you drop down the list, you'll find that the list has been updated to show only the body paorts/props of the currently selected character. Poser 5 behaves identically. I do not think it's a bug in Poser, I think it's an oversight of the character creators not to include a defaultPick.
