Thread: Some thoughts on the Bryce challenge this month. | Forum: Bryce
Thread: [OT] Switching Gears...Does Anyone have issues w/ this task? | Forum: Bryce
I'm going through it now. I have a commissioned piece I'm working on (a 16" x 20" entirely 2D print project where a bunch of aliens are dancing), but I can't seem to get into it much. All I want to do is create another 3D image and do some postwork on it, or maybe write a book or something. I think it's partly avoidance or reluctance of the thing you have to do and partly enthusiasm for the thing you really want to be doing right this moment. Totally natural and very common.

Eh... never mind... lol. You guys are too fast for me. I didn't see the last two posts before I posted.
Thread: Grasses not being Approved - Ornlu's Angry face... | Forum: Bryce
Hope you guys don't mind my trying to pinpoint the problem here: Ornlu, the others who have successfully opened and used the file, did they download from the same place, too? Or did you e-mail the file to them? Sometimes, that makes a difference. I work on both Mac and PC, and there are times I try to download something and for one reason or another, either my computer or the web server from which I'm trying to download just can't recognize the file for what it is. Usually it's the web server. Maybe it isn't set up to host certain files, or in the act of uploading the file it got corrupted or interpreted incorrectly (ASCII instead of Binary, or vice versa).
Thread: Warsaw Ghetto 9WIP) / Seamless texture question | Forum: Bryce
I'd make an ABC texture out of it -- two slightly different repeating photo textures with a subtle cloudy procedural as the mask. Don't know if that makes any sense, but that's what I would do.
Thread: Bryce-Poser Hot gallery | Forum: Bryce
What about images with Poser figures rendered in Bryce then brought into Photoshop for some serious hair and clothing painting? That's what a lot of my 3D images tend to be, and I usually put them in Mixed Medium,... but I'd love to know where everyone else thinks they should go.

Thread: The (New?) Bryce 5 Minimum System Requirements | Forum: Bryce
Wow... thanks for responding, everyone. :-) I'd really like to see what Corel's customer service tells brholte says before I open the box, but when the weekend arrives, I have a funny feeling I won't be able to wait. Having read everyone's answers and thought about it some more, I will assume that my Bryce 5 is no different from the original and that I can safely install it using Win98 as my OS. Reason #1: If it were a different Bryce 5, wouldn't it have a .# after it, like 5.1, 5.2, etc.? Reason #2: I will keep my Bryce 5 whether or not it works on Win98. Reason #3: I'm dying to try Bryce 5 this weekend. Reason #4: If it works on Win98, I think I have plenty of RAM to get by. BTW... did you all know Corel has dropped the Mac version of Bryce? There was no Mac version on Corel's Bryce 5 page, and that's part of the reason I wondered about Win98 and the Bryce 5 minimum system requirements.

Thanks, Brholte! I really appreciate that. :-) Woodhurst, I hope so, too! Ornlu, I didn't try installing it yet because it would mean opening the box. I don't plan on getting 2000 or XP any time soon, so if it doesn't work on 98, I'll return the box unopened.

Here is the link for you. :)Thread: natural & artificial lum. | Forum: Photoshop
First off, I hope you have a mask for the object so you can adjust it independent of the exterior background. With the object selected, you can try playing around with the Curves, the Levels, or (as someone else has pointed out) the Hue/Saturation (where you will also find a setting for Lightness). Or... you can try this: with just the object showing, hit Ctrl-Alt-Shift-~ (the tilde character, left of the 1 key) [or Command-Option-Shift-~ if you're on a Mac]. This will select the light/luminous areas of the displayed image. If you then hit Ctrl-J or Command-J, those light areas will be copied onto its own layer, and you can set that layer at Screen. Not sure if that will solve your problem exactly, but you could probably modify or add to those steps somewhat and get what you need in the end. To be honest, I have absolutely no idea what you mean by natural and spot luminosity. Would be nice if you could post an image similar to the one you're working on so you can protect your client's privacy while at the same time providing us with a visual aid. :)
