Quote - Just think how much bloat Microsoft could add to windows so that the users see no performance gain what so ever.....:sneaky:
it's called Vista ME (mediocre edition) 2010 - a (core) space odissey
Thread: Exporting Object (?) | Forum: Bryce
there's a special export option while in the terrain editor, don't try to export it from the main file menu
I have something about that in http://www.thebest3d.com/pdp/tutorials/bryce101/terrains/index.html somewhere

Quote - .....That way when I want something I've already made I don't have to save what I'm doing, open the file containing the desired object, copy it, then reopen the scene where I want the object. I can just import it or create it. Does that make sense?
. . .
yes, perfectly

that's ok, I've modeled comfy chairs... in Amapi , they're very comfy LOL
is it much of a modeling tool? hm, maybe I have a misconception of Bryce.
ok, I guess the challenge is out. Make me a comfy chair in Bryce.

by-the-way i'm curious, why would you want to export from Bryce? it's noit much of a modeler, so what's there to export that wasn't outside in some file already? terrains might be the only exception imho. For making models, I'd recommend Carrara, Nendo, Blender, Amapi etc... and those models will want to be rendered in Bryce, so imported. But what is it you want to export, and to what purpose?
just curious. I don't use Bryce a whole lot, except occasionally for tutorials and to make tutorials with PD Particles as a companion

do you have an object selected?
try importing one, and then reexporting it. Perhaps there are only certain types of obejcts that can be exported. Try a 3D tree?
I know the terrains have their own export feature, in numerous formats

awesome
I could see doing a few replicas for a whole village scene with tons of similar houses.

3D Xplor Math is what they used to make the surfaces of these mathematical shapes. Then saved/exported to a format usable by their incognito rendering tools.
3D Xplor Math appears to be on the Mac,
http://vmm.math.uci.edu/3D-XplorMath/
perhaps there's some hints as to what formats they export, probably .3ds and .obj (wavefront).
The image is fine, nothing extraordinary, either Mac based tool can render it, Carrara, Bryce, Vue, Lightwave, Cinema...
Now I'm curious :-) .... which was it indeed?.

In a similar category: Archipelis Designernot free, but with stereo viewing and texturing and exports to Wavefront OBJ and others. It's intended for use with other 3D tools or 2D illustration tools. Big emphasis on preloading a picture and using it as a template to 'trace' the 3D shapes from it.

I don't know them all but when I was working at Eovia on educational markets Savannah was on the top 5 list.
There's also "The Art Institute", they have offices in many cities including one here in San Diego.
And in San Francisco try "The Academy of Art College"
Keep us posted, I'm curious where you choose to go. Or is it for a kid of yours?

I have a tutorial using PS Elements 4, might be useful too.

There is a single file in this case where the transparency mask (or its counterpart the opacity mask) is located in the alpha channel. But I'd assume you can also find this to work with a separate file in a greyscale image holding the mask. Just open both and either mask should become (hopefully) visible in the list when you try to build the mask from the file(s)
