The hottest one from Nvidia you can afford. Actually, though, I'm using a GeForce FX 5200 with 128 MB of memeory and it works great. But you can probably get something a lot better by now.

I would add to what ernyoka said and say that unless you are going to a plastic look, you should also set specular color and translucence color to pure black. If you want to change the color of something use diffuse color. All specular does is make objects more or less shiney and you should use shades of grey for that. Translucence just lets light pass through, sort of like polythene does. It too should be a shade of grey. And ambient gives a glowing effect, it you want clothes to glow in the dark use it, otherwise don't.

The advantage of .png is that the alpha channel is automatically transparent. I guess it depends on what sort of effect you are trying to acheive.
Thread: Help!!! Problem importing Poser 6 files into Vue 4.2 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I take it you don't read the forums at E-on's website. Anyway they are waiting to get the SDK (?) from E-Frontier for Poser 6 SR1 so they can modify Vue to work with it.

Thread: Reflection question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think it is possible to create fake reflections in Poser 4 with sphere maps, but I don't have Poser 4 so can't say for sure. Something else you could try is to make one render of the "original" character and then rotate the character and do another render and then combine the renders in PhotoShop.

Also Poser 6 gives you the option of using inches, feet, or metric in addition to Poser Native units, so you could set it to inches and base your measurements on that.
Thread: Looking for help to make a reflective floor in P5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
First set diffuse_color and specular_color to pure black. Then set reflection value from 0.1500 to 1.0000. In your render option make sure raytracing is checked and set raytrace bounces to 4. And give the floor something to reflect off of in the background. It is probably grey because your background is grey. Not sure what is causing the waveyness. If you have texture filtering on try turning it off. Also try turning one of the shadows off on your lights, the shadows could be interferring with one another.

In Poser 5 you can get a similar effect by plugging in the reflection node and setting it to 0.3000 and plugging in the refraction node and setting it to 0.7000. Using fresnal in Poser 6 just saves a few steps.

Nance, that is the best explanation I have heard yet in regards to creating your own models in some high end program vs using pre-made models in Poser.
Thread: Hair for Laura and Luke | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I use Kozaburo hair and scale it to fit or just create my own in the hair room. Actually most any hair can be used if you scale it to fit. A head is a head and Lukes and Lauras aren't that significantly different than Mike and Vicky's other than size.
