Hello hborre,
I am running Poser Pro 2010 on an i7 2.8 GHz, 12 gig machine useing Windows 7 with an ATI 4870 graphics card.
I posted here because it seems to be a lighting isseue, it may be nothing but a black screen, underlit, or some other lighting isseue that indicates different lighting in the Firefly render than the preview render and it is not consistant.
As for settings,  I've reset to defaults, and run it on auto render setting set all the way to rhe right in final render setting as I mentioned. The one consistant fact that I have noticed is that I've been haveing to over crank the lights to get a good render generally and sometimes unexpected results as I have mentioned. (like a black render).
It is as if the main light in preview, is not seen in the render.
Sooooo,,,, thank you for asking about my Poser horror story. If you have any sugestions or ideas thanks for that as well. I am thinking that either I have done something to the lights or that Poser is :o)

Geez... I have been getting weird renders lately.
All is fine and then.............it all goes bananas.
and lately, the preview or screen looks better than the washed out cartoony image I get from the full on firefly. I've tried resetting to default settings, and useing auto render settings., full on render. It does not seem to help.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?

DAZ figures could be installed at the same address as the zip files installed in the content window of Poser. Soooo, load up a zip file, note the address and you'll know :o)

Thread: Render workstation and Poser? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello aRtBee,
Thank you this is helpful and this is great advice.
I've got a quad based machine (i7 930).
The idea I had come up with was just to enable comunication to another rig and pass Poser scene files through the USB cable made for this purpose ( it's got a capicitor or DC blocking diodes).  I was looking at the AMD 6 CPU 3.2 GHz (goes for $285) and thought that a cheap motherboard and a handful of memory and my computer would never be tied up.
What I am curious about is the Render engines,
there are a couple that I have looked at that are open source or freeware, (Indigo) that are 64 bit renderers. I have no idea if one can, or if so; how to load Poser scene files for rendering. If that were no problem, or if I could use my copy of Poser for this purpose, I think I would be ordering parts. Otherwise I think that I will adopt your work procedure.
Cheers,
BimÂ
P.S.
Okay, I just checked out Indigo and it supports;
It does not support Poser. Nor is it freeware any longer but a comercial product.

My question does pertain to animation.
1 minute of animation is 1800 renders.Â
It takes a bit of time...Â
My last project took more than 5 days of constant rendering.
I know some people use just a render engine in a second rig, but I have no experience at this.
Any advice would be helpful.
Cheers,
Bim

Thread: Installing Poser Pro 2010? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello again hborre,

Thread: Installing Poser Pro 2010? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello hborre,
I am happy to hear that you have not had any problems.
I am currently reinstalling, but; so far it has been dysfunctional.
The first installaion worked ok, but I could not load to the library, (better to say I could not find it in the library). The last installation; everything disappeared if I touched any camera control. I usually opt to load content with the program, but; have been advised against this by the Poser support people:o(
I was just fishing to see if others are haveing problems and where others are installing content to avoid yet another failed install.
Thanks

BobbyStahr,
I will have to check that out. (Oh for Max.)
Someone also linked this to me;

Vue looks as high end as you get.
I think that what is so kool about animation is that while I am working on one I get ideas for 2 more! I have lots of Jazz instrumentals recorded, and I have many ideas for them....

Thanks Bobbystahr,
but,,,,,,,
I wrote to Nemric.
It was more longish than my intent.
It had the information that I had guessed that nemric would want.
I sent it.
I get an error message, that nemric does not exist.......

Thread: rendering animations with png files??? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Imckenzie,
Wow!
Vue looks really high end.
I will require myself to better learn some basic animation skills before I consider this though.
Considering the High end quality the cost is reasonable.
Thanks

Dear VIRTUAL Imckenzie,
Thanks , good suggestion.
I am shure that lot's of my problems are due to ignorance.
I put up a "preview" of my video on youtube.
As is evident, I need to edit it better, and go back in and get a better mix on the music, as well as add a dominant 7th chord going in to the chorus.
I am thinking of useing movies for backrounds as well, rather than just snapshots of the coast...
