Looks excellent to me, but I agree there's something not quite right about the collar bones, not sure what it is though. Maybe they're just alittle too horizontal, I think they should slope up towards the shoulders ever so slightly, and they may be a little too well defined, they stand out a little too sharply. What do you think? Excellent piece of work though! Atrice

Thanks for the help, I've only got an imac 400 so I doubt that I'll be able to work very big! I suppose I'll have to get something a little beefier if I get serious about this! Sigh, more expense. Atrice

There are at least two free mac modelling programmes out there, Amapi and Pixels3D both have free versions available!
Thread: masking help | Forum: Photoshop
Depends exactly what you want to know, but the basics are make a selection by whatever means you prefer, hit the quick mask button and you have a temporary mask, or hit the load selection as channel button on the channels palette and you have reusable mask. You can soften the edge of the mask by featering the selection and edit it by spraying with black grey or white. Shades of grey will give a semi-transparent mask. The best way to learn is to try a few and just mess around to see what the possibilities are.

Thanks for the replies folks, I appreciate peoples concerns over this issue, if you're interested there's quite a lively debate going on in community ideas under my original post. Dr Zik, is 3ds max coming to the Mac or is that just wishful thinking? I hadn't heard anything about it and can't find anything on the 3ds site. Can you let me know where I can find more info?

Something has just occured to me, this worry about splitting the renderosity community (a concern which I share by the way) is really only based on the fear of inciting this stupid mac/pc hostility that seems to exist. If you ignore that problem, a mac forum doesn't split the community any more than having seperate Bryce and Vue forums. Just a thought. Atrice

Thanks lynnJonathan, I sort of agree with you but draw the opposite conclusion! It seems to me that a mac forum, where people could post queries about mac only apps like Pixels 3d etc would cut down the searching, for me anyway. I'm just trying to figure out Pixels 3d and am struggling a bit (well, a lot actually) I had a look at some of the links on pixels site and didn't like the forums I found. They seemed a bit geeky and hostile to newbies, I'd much rather get info from the friendly and enthusiastic people at renderosity! If you can recommend any particular sites for Pixels3d I'd appreciate it, and would you mind me sending the occasional note if I have any particular queries? Huh? Please? Thanks Atrice

I suppose I was thinking mainly about areas where Mac users have to use different apps to windows users. I've read quite a few tutorials suggesting the use of a particular programme, spent an hour or two searching for it only to find it's not available for macs. I then have spend more time finding out if there's a mac equivalent. It took me days to find out that maconverter does the same job as mover! I'm still trying to figure out the best 3d modeller for Macs, ther are very few in the lower price bracket. Addressing queries to mac users would point people in the right direction much more efficiently. Incidently, I've just started playing around with a 3d app called Pixels3dstudio. It looks amazing but very complicated, probably not the best choice for a beginner like me-but its FREE! You really should check it out. I can't find anyone on here who uses it and I'm really struggling! It would be great to get some other minds on the problem. AtriceThread: Macintosh users PLEASE READ | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Fair enough, but, as an example, I,ve had replies to queries I,ve posted suggesting the use of software that isn't available for macs. If I had been directing my queries to other mac users I would have got more relevant advice. Many people use Rhino or 3DSMax, neither of which is available for Mac, and I've just found what looks like an excellent Mac equivalent, Pixels3D Studio and I can't find anybody who knows anything about it. So a forum aimed at Mac users seems like a good idea to me. Thanks for the input anyway Atrice

Thanks for the support everyone! I agree wholeheartedly with willf, I certainly wasn't trying to start some kind of seperatist movement!

Oh sorry, misunderstood! Great site, first one I've seen for Mac users. Thanks for the info!

Hi JeffH, it's me again! I've just checked the link and mover is there but it is PC only, but apparently Maconverter will do the same job! Fingers crossed, lets hope it works! Atrice
